The big problem is that overheal counts towards hate generation. If I set up a few regens it might become very troublesome.

It's not that bad honestly.
Healers tend to over heal their target. This comes from other games where it's not that big of a deal. However, if you over heal in FFXIV:ARR you are asking to pull aggro/emnity quickly.
Good healers would pick up on this quickly. I keep my tank as topped off as I can, but I will cancel my heal if for some reason he doesn't take a hit and I would be over healing him. But even then, it's generally only on multiple targets that I will pull aggro.
"You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."
Not really. It simulates intelligence, if you'd see some mob healing the one you're currently trying to kill, your first reaction will be to kill the healer off first.
This just forces you to think whether you dump a cure II or a cure I on the target. On mid-level encounters keeping up regen and an occasional cure I is mostly enough and I don't pull hate off DD/tanks that way. Simply dumping your strongest heal on every hp drop won't only pull too much hate, but also exhaust your mp pool pretty fast. A healer without MP = wipe

I suddenly feel like I lack intelligence now, since the first time I saw a mob heal the one I was attacking I... saw it as a challenge and tried to lower it's health faster than it was being healed >_>...
I wish more healers did this. I always mark targets and the amount of times a DPS attacks the #2, #3, or the slept mob is too damn high. Then of course, I provoke/shield lob, but the dps keeps attacking that mob, causing him to get hit. This then makes the healer heal the DPS, which causes threat on the #1 mob which I now haven't attacked for a good 8 seconds, so now that mob is coming for the healer and I have to take care of that. And, because the healer healed the DPS, they will continue doing exactly this for the rest of the dungeon. It's horrible and I hope one day healers will stop enabling bad DPSers.
Sadly, not attacking the mob the DPS is attacking is not an option, because one mob usually isn't enough to kill the DPS, which then means healing is split between me and the DPS, so if I still have 2+ mobs on me, it might get hairy. All of this gets a LOT worse, if said #2 mob has a ground-AOE that hits the DPS, the healer and the other DPS, I have to deal with it. Really, the only time a tank can try to discipline bad DPSers is in Qarn- if DPS pull a wasp (bee), let them tank it and get insta-killed. They will learn eventually if they don't kill it fast enough. But, again, we need healers to not be as forgiving. Sounds harsh, but it's the only way you get good dungeon-habits.

I honestly as a healer very rarely have an issue and when I do it's only in multi-mob pulls. If it's happening either the Healer or the Tank are not playing correctly.
spamming AOE heals constantly is a surefire why to get yourself smacked in the face by a bunch of nasties but when my poor little Faerie pulls hate from the Tank I can only blame the tank.
Healers need to not over heal - watch their enmity - not spam AOE's - not heal the tank for a few seconds after going in (initial hate is a big thing let the tank build it before you spam him)
Tanks need to Pay attention to multi-pull mobs. even if your DPS is target focusing correctly the healer has no such privilege.
The game is new. people just need to be observant and watch the enmity bar.
hate, threat, enmity, aggro, whatever you want to call it.enmity (not threat, that's a wow term) is only particularly high on AoE heals, which you shouldn't really be using constantly except in a dire situation. I don't usually pull hate unless I'm spamming like crazy, and if your gear is good enough you won't have to spam so hard.
MMO people are silly.
I stopped tanking titan when I stopped using regen.
Regen + Adds = death
The worst issue i have as a white mage is regen generates a ton of hate per tick. Even if you cast it before battle the ticks pull mobs to the healer fast. I dont like hate ticks from regen so i almost never use it in groups which sucks its a great power
Im lost i have gone to go find myself, should i return before i get back please ask myself to wait.
