SMN - knowing the class (part 1)

Made it to 50 yesterday. Shadow Flare is awesome, simply awesome. Disappointed with Enkindle though. Tried it with both spur and rouse on Titan. He hit about 460 (I only tried it once against level 49 machine mob). Tried it with Garuda and she hit about 540. I hadn't tried with Ifrit yet. But I would have to agree with people saying Enkindle is weak. My Fester, with no crit, does anywhere from 400-550 (with 3 DoTs up). With crit, it does 800-900. For a 5 minute cooldown Enkindle, it would be nice if it does like 4000+ damage, considering I can cast 15 Fester in that time doing 6000-13500 (including crit). Would be nice if the animation is awesome too. Something like - summon changes size to its full size before doing damage and revert back after. Just wishful thinking . But loving Shadow Flare.

About Enkindle : They should add a buff to the spell like : if you use garuda : Garuda and you gain celerity. Ifrit increases your damage,Something to make it worth the cd.

Our higher lvl skills are lackluster. Shadow flare in particular while awesome looking, does terrrrible dmg for being a lvl 50 spell.

laugh all you want, a lvl 50 aoe ticking for 20-30s. Yeah Thats something to laugh at being a dps class. Genius

Enkindle is bleh at best for such a long cooldown. Seriously. Tell me what good spells we have higher up. Our pets dmg sucks, our nuke sucks, our dots take 7-10 seconds to get off depending on what you usr, then an additional 3 for them to tick. I mean seriously, what spells do we have that you can honestly say are good?

He does have gear issue, but even so Shadow Flare for a level 50 skill is still really lackluster. For the last skill that you get once you max your level, you would expect something more... better.

Like what? It's better than all the other classes since it's useful for both AoE, and ST.

Dragon Kick? How exciting.

Chaos Thrust? How exciting.

Wide Volley? How exciting.

Flare? Lolit'ssobad.


It's literally the best and most versatile level 50 damage skill.

Dragon kick is a really good skill so is chaos thrust(plus it looks amazing) any dragoon not using is silly oh their last job skill is sky dragon dive(which is also a good aoe) actually. I know nothing about bard so I won't comment flare won't comment since I don't have it yet.

But black mage atherial manipulation is really useful considering our playstyle.

I'm not saying they're bad skills.

I'm saying, in comparison, Shadow Flare is far more useful and versatile.
