As mentioned in my post, the possibility that DCUO for PS3 subscription is handled through PSN could be that the infrastructure is relying on PSN. And seeing that SOE developed this title, and it is not cross-platform, the PS3 version is independent from the PC counterpart.

Where as FFXIV is shared infrastructure on SE's own hosting. PS3 is merely a gateway to get on to SE's authentication interface (if you not noticing, the login part is WWW interface). Once authenticated, the native PS3 game client is launched. However the server where the game client communicate to has nothing to do with PSN. And because of this very reason, it is why FFXIV is not on Xbox360 and Xbox One due to Microsoft's strict requirement to have Xbox Live service.

PSN's "Free Multiplayer Service" is no longer (or shortly rather) Free.

It will require Plus membership to achieve the same results.

LOL @ Gamestop as if they are the end all of information about PS Plus. If they announced it then you should also know that this only affects PS4 and not the PS3 or PS Vita. They will remain as is. Besides PS Plus is awesome and I get way more out of it than I ever got out of Xbox Live.

FFXIV team, I would still very much like an answer to this.

Are there plans to implement payment for subscription through PSN in the near future, or at all? I am eager to give you my money, but would like to know where it needs to come from. Credit/debit card or online PSN wallet.

Errr.. That video is exactly what i meant. Microsoft mandates that all online services must be hosted on Xbox Live however FFXIV:ARR is hosted on its own server environment.

Gonna periodically post here hoping for a reply. I know you guys are busy but my interest in whether or not subs will go through PSN eventually actually has to do with technical support. All I need is a definitive yes or no. Either way, I'm subscribing to this awesome game. Knowing how to do so would make things a little more convenient for me though.

I wish you luck, but I have yet to see a response from an SE rep to anything in here. Your best bet is to call CS and hope you arnt on hold for four horus or submit a ticket and hope they dont close it automatically like they did with all of mine.

I've already written a detailed account to their support center and got an automated reply that was incredibly unhelpful on an unrelated topic. For that reason alone I'm never contacting their support center ever again lol. However, as rare and unlikely as getting a response on here may be, I have seen them do it on a few occasions. My hope, is that someone realizes how simple it would be to respond to this inquiry. PSN subscriptions? Yes or no? That's really all I'm looking for. There's not even a need to type out the usual formal greeting or other unnecessary text that typically comes with a response or announcement. A "Yes, subscriptions will be made available for PSN", or "No, subscriptions will not be made available for PSN." would be amazing.

Edit: This request for information here is on account of being unable to find any news/info on this anywhere else.

Is there news on PSN subscriptions?

I was refunded due to a non working digital download from psn, but the refund is in my online wallet. I would like to apply these funds toward my ffxiv:arr subscription fee.

Can one of the community reps help us out on this topic?

Wait... so you got the game for free because of the server problems, now that the problems are fixed you can still play, but... now you're complaining because you want to use that money that should have went to SE towards more free game time?
