Also as a tank I've found it easier to stand inside Aiatars targeting ring, near his left front foot, can run through him to avoid poison breath.
I still say the room is too small and/or the patches don't dissipate fast enough. The fight is like Grobbulus in Naxxrammas but with 1/20 of the space available and the poison patches not growing bigger with time. The breath attack is easy to avoid, but every time I've been to that boss I run out of room.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Tanked 3x yesterday ( first time there) Aiatar is easy when you have semi decent items - tank and spank boss. Just dont stand in posion and dont be hit by his aoe. Sunken bosses are much harder (especially first one)

Funny, because I think the end boss is made harder by the dps and healer. The tank can be crap and still serve his purpose aslong as the dps and healer are strategic about where they stand and get spat on. If you think your tank isnt good, then make sure you hug the walls and place the green pools as far from the tank as you can. Then he wont have to move as much, and, the likelyhood of him having to drag the boss across patched you've placed in the middle of the room falls drastically. Also less time spent dragging because of dps/healer shoddy play, the less likelyhood of tank loosing threat on the boss.

Be a Dragoon or Monk and try that strat, compensating for a bad tank seems like a poor idea.

Sorry, but the easiest jobs in the room have no say in strategy...

Lost count the number of times I've tanked it and I've never run out of room as long as the mages/bard are controlling pool placement.
The most I've seen is about half the room covered if the ranged aren't being complete tards and staying miles away from the poison pools causing the floor to be completely covered by them.

Tank him against one edge of the wall. Have your DPS and Healer stand along the outside edge within range of him (and the healer). Murder him until he shoots someone. Tank should move the boss if need be. DPS should move slightly closer or further away from the boss along said wall out of the poison. Repeat til dead.

He spawns no adds. He does negligible melee damage. The biggest threat is people running around the middle, and the tank not dodging easily dodgeable breaths. People who have difficulty with this fight will not be pleased with Titan and Garuda.

Tanking this boss is hard? I've actually tanked it on monk when the tank failed to get out of breath for the last 50%. Really not that difficult even with poor pool placement. I fail to see where tanking it is difficult enough to have to compensate for bad players.

This dungeon is so damn easy it's sad. Just get a tank with a functional brain. (yes I'm a tank yes I have ran this dungeon and still call it easy, nothing but tank and spank boss's. Minus the four times you may need to move 5 feet.)

I'm not saying it's hard at all. The only times I've ever had an issue tanking this were the DPS fault for not standing where they are supposed to (mostly mages). I don't care how good of a tank you are, if the entire ground is covered in green stuff you're gonna fail.
