Worst thing is, it's not fixing anything, just added some servers, won't help the already full servers.

Be careful what you ask for. I'd sooner have SE's way of handling both the NA and EU servers in one place and maintaining them at the same time than have them entering into a EU localisation partnership with the likes of ProSiebenSat.1, GOA or Ubisoft.
It's called transfers....something they've proven to be fairly adept at handling during FFXI's lifetime. In fact FFXI retained a permanent World Transfer service after the last round of server expansions back in 2004, something that came in handy when the Xbox/Europe launch of the game cause some servers to start splitting at the seams. Normally transfers came with a fee but shortly after Xbox launch they started offering free transfers off the heavier populated servers. They'll just need to find a way to transfer Free Companies with FFXIV since starting an FC from scratch is miles different than restarting an LS on a new server.

/facepalm Can't read or spell... 9am - 7pm Japanese business hours (Tokyo time), they lose the entire day. For the sake of your health, go outside, get some fresh air and spend some quality time with your friends. We lived through the mayan apocalypse, I'm sure we can handle maintenance.I think he'd prefer to take down NA/EU servers during the JP prime time which is during late night/early morning for NA/EU and then do JP server maintenance during NA/EU prime time.
Honestly, why they have NA and EU on the same server is stupid as hell. Why not an NA region, Asian region, and EU region set up? Why is it this company brags about 1 million+ beta sign ups and wasn't ready for that come launch day? Why is it they have had 3 launches of MMOs now (FFXI, first FFXIV, and now 2.0) and still can't get it right? Why is this company not using its multi-billion dollared ass to fix this before it's a problem? Why did they take no note from every other MMO and implement anti-afk measures before the game was even in beta? Come now, let's stop white knighting for SE. I loved Square so much as a kid, they are no longer that company.
I actually gave the same reaction for those other games actually, that it was bs and the companies should account for the time zone of the users and have the regions down during those regions' non-prime time hours. For an international corporation like most of the big MMO companies are, they could pull this off. And, honestly, for most they have been.
Ya I'm pretty sure the multi-billion dollar company coulda figured out a way to set that up over the last 3 years.

They told massively.com server transfers were 2-3 months away, when no one will be playing anyway. It's called transfers....something they've proven to be fairly adept at handling during FFXI's lifetime. That was the paid world transfer service they were talking about. They weren't going to open up that service right off the bat knowing they'd likely get flooded. Now that they're adding servers they don't have a choice but to work out a transfer system quickly or they'll have a bunch of jammed full servers and a handful of shiny new half populated servers. They've done this before with FFXI so I have some expectations. I'm willing to see them through this just based on how they handled the FFXI server expansions etc. but if they drop the ball on this that will be it. FATEs are already horrible akin to Beseiged in FFXI. I couldn't imagine if they increased capacity and the server grew several hundred more people...maximum capacity and OPTIMUM capacity are most definitely two different things.

You do know when game prime times are right? And the average time people work in the majority of OECD nations of the world (which includes Japan)? Apparently not./facepalm Can't read or spell... 9am - 7pm Japanese business hours (Tokyo time), they lose the entire day. I get out enough, I want to play my game at night when I'm home before I sleep. The game I paid for, mind you.

Ill have class on Wednesday, so meh it does not hurt me that much to come home and hey the servers are up.

You do not matter to anyone in the grand scheme of this company, get over your wants and settle for what you get.You do know when game prime times are right? And the average time people work in the majority of OECD nations of the world (which includes Japan)? Apparently not.
