Servers will be down 5pm to 3am USA time?? (10+ hours).

Well the "miracle" fix is coming on Wednesday Sep. 3rd and what does SE do??? They choose 5pm to 3am pdt to take down every world and hopefully fix this huge problem they should've never had. If after 10+ hours of taking all worlds down during the peak playtime hours in the USA this crap isn't fixed people are going to quit in droves, why not take all worlds down maybe from 2am to 12pm, that makes more sense, instead you choose to screw over the US population again.

WTH is wrong with you.
So you would rather they wait to fix the game?

Lol wow this community is just so torn. If this was their earliest convenience then I say good for them. Holding off on fixing the game so you can get your playtime? Selfish much?

Fyi. This is an international game. Not a cater to U.S.A game and I am american

They are bringing them down during Japanese business hours (9am-7pm Tokyo Time). As Raiz said this game is international. Most of the support for the team at the NA/EU datacenter is going to come from Japan so it makes sense. It also ensures that when they come back online they aren't being assraped by NA prime time volumes while the datacenter is manned with techs who have been up all night. We lose Tuesday night but by the time we get off work on Wednesday the system will have been live for a few hours and hopefully any wrinkles smoothed out. All the hiccups and repeat emergency maintenances can happen during JP prime time...

From the oceanic gaming community and everyone else in the world...

How's it feel having maintenance during YOUR prime time?

You're going to get the same reaction that you all give the rest of us, 'deal with it'.

Lol , you sure love to cry about anything and everything without even thinking do you ? Like Lithera said , it's an international game and guess what ? SE is based in Japan , guess how many hours difference you have with them ? 12-13h depending on the time of the year. Have you done your research on why they would do it at such time ? Of course not. Were you aware that there was different timezone in the world other than West Central and Est time ? Probably not.

You and your kind need to stop whining because everything isn't given to you when you want it. You can't play during 1 night big deal , try sleeping instead , do you think the Japanese are happier ? they can't play all day long ,they won't be sleeping during the day that's for sure.

I think he'd prefer to take down NA/EU servers during the JP prime time which is during late night/early morning for NA/EU and then do JP server maintenance during NA/EU prime time.

Honestly, why they have NA and EU on the same server is stupid as hell. Why not an NA region, Asian region, and EU region set up? Why is it this company brags about 1 million+ beta sign ups and wasn't ready for that come launch day? Why is it they have had 3 launches of MMOs now (FFXI, first FFXIV, and now 2.0) and still can't get it right? Why is this company not using its multi-billion dollared ass to fix this before it's a problem? Why did they take no note from every other MMO and implement anti-afk measures before the game was even in beta? Come now, let's stop white knighting for SE. I loved Square so much as a kid, they are no longer that company.

I actually gave the same reaction for those other games actually, that it was bs and the companies should account for the time zone of the users and have the regions down during those regions' non-prime time hours. For an international corporation like most of the big MMO companies are, they could pull this off. And, honestly, for most they have been.

Because Square does not have a dedicated location in the EU region to host the servers. Countless threads has been over this point before.

Ya I'm pretty sure the multi-billion dollar company coulda figured out a way to set that up over the last 3 years.

Actually FFXI launch went well but it also launched 4 separate times. Initial JP launch, US PC Launch, US PS2 Launch, then worldwide xbox launch. FFXI went through server additions and eventually merges. There's always been hiccups and the first day or two after any patch was always hit and miss. Even 1.0s launch went okay it just happened to be a shit game. What's happened with this launch has really been surprising. I expected problems of varying types including server congestion but this has been unreal. I'd love to hear exactly what happened. Definitely true that they had 1.0 player count data as well as pre-orders so it's confounding that they wouldn't have prepared.

The NA/EU in the same datacenter...maybe they had some whacked out statistics regarding the playerbase in NA and Europe and thought there wouldn't be enough EU players to warrant a third datacenter (Datacenter would just bleed cash without a certain number of worlds/players based out of it). The number of worlds listed as (EU) for time zone purposes certainly seems to fit this.
