Hate it, I think SE should auto-allocate skills to a class (similar to FF11).

Saving stats to a class would be ok I suppose on the condition they reduce the amount of stat points you get per level to maybe 1-2 points per level.

Hopefully when they rebalance stats they will massively reduce the number of stat points we get, which in turn will make armor, weapon and accessory stats more important, which then will force players to choose the correct gear for their jobs and level.

Kind of like killing 10 birds with a great big bolder.

I thought Yoshi said he was going to remove physical levels from the game? Which would effectively end this debate. About the food system and how point allotment does not allow for devine to be easily obtained. I hope the food system is really changed so even realitively new players can fully understand it, does eating really need to be so complex?

^ They can remove physical levels and still have stat allocation, just it will be per class.

Solves the issue for a lot of people, personally I still feel there are too many stat points per level though.

whats too many points? its all relative. if the effect is the same it doesnt matter how many points, also i thought gear operated outside stat caps, could be wrong though.

I think having fixed stats isnt really a good idea, taking away customization is usually a bad idea for me.

Taking away anything is considered bad, still doesn't mean its not needed, you can still have individualism by customising gear, the new materia system is designed specifically to do this. (.... uh... I think)

By making the stat points lower you are making the value more meaningful and powerful, making gear stats more important and as I said if the stats are more important players are then forced to wear the correct gear unless they want to be gimped.

Isnt that because they raise the amount of point needed to go one rank after 40? The increase is surely to allow you to progress well, even though it can take 3 points to get one extra point.

id rather be able to customize directly without spending millions on gear, and looking very funny wearing whatever the best set happens to be. I mean it still happens now, but not as rigidly. I dunno, in a game with so many playstyles, setting static stats seems to be pretty limiting. a DD glad a tank glad and a pld glad need very different stats, i imagine that the same can be said of many playstyles/disciplines.

Yea they do, but then its for you to augment them with gear and materia in that case to make them the best they can be for that specific purpose.

Ok so we added materia to the mix, lets now add the up comming job system, say for example if a GLA can choose a job as a PLD his stats will change to suit that class, he chooses Swordmaster (i duno I'm making these names up) and his stats are now more suitable for DDing.

It seems pretty obvious to me the additions of both these systems are in an effort to remove the physical level and stat allocation system.

Balancing also becomes a lot easier if they have a base number to work with, if a GLA has base stats then the maximum he can have is with X gear, so you then tune an NM/monster to fall within the median of the min and max values.

Most of what you guys are asking they already said they are gonna do it. They ARE removing P Levels and making stat allotment per class so yes stats will save per class.
