Seriously though, that's actually one of the reasons they're portraying us as adventurers rather than heroes, because not everyone is a combat specialist, and this isn't our story to quote FFX, it's more we're actually wrapped up into something already preexisting and they're building us up. The engine is the reason FFXIII was as it was, so XIV can likely do the same thing but XIII's storyline was a constant fight for survival, nothing of that nature has happened in XIV yet but it looks to be approaching.
Exactly. This is why I brought this concern up - I am very worried my Japanese counterpart at Square-Enix may not be aware of this vital necessity of properly portraying our characters in a proper role in the context of the upcoming conflict with the Garlean Empire.Then you shouldn't be allowed to take part in the storyline? o.O

Make it 10,000 Needles and you got a deal ^^ But seriously I just brought that up because I really think it is ridiculous that SE are trying to make it so DoL/DoH can complete these missions as well and as you can see it just doesn't make sense. Unless at R70 the Weaver does get 10,000 Needles O.O
Well it does make sense, since everyone is an adventurer and to my knowledge, adventurers walks all paths of life, though I guess with the way MMOs and RPGs in general moved...there's no real sense of adventure, story and real meaning to what an adventurer is, just point, click and kill.
From my understanding of mmo ingeneral. We are heros just not the main heros the games are not about us but about every character ingeneral. Unlike most single player games where the story is about your character. Also to not the story only just begun. Our characters are still learning whats going on. And we don't really have an active stance on things yet.
Everything about single-player story modes in an MMO is essentially retarded. Even if it makes you feel like a hero, you arent. FYI.
Then at least you should feel somewhat wealthy and known for your skill and not kneel around at some street corner making socks like a bum.
NPC: Hard times! The empire is killing whole villages! We are at war!
Player: Oh... I want to help, i want to go to war!!!
NPC: You go and kill a sheep!
