Insult them more, I'll bet that'll attract more people and/or teach them how to play properly. Clearly the solution is for everyone to insult everyone. And if someone insults you, make sure you insult them back. *nods*

To be honest, I'm actually hesitant on joining parties because I feel like I'll screw up and ruin everyone's experience.
But how can I get better if I don't practice, right?
Gramul, you've been playing since beta 1.0, I think you've learned a few things that will make you a good party member. Are you fishing for a compliment or something?
My advice to anyone that thinks a tank is bad needs to play tank for a month or more before they cast judgement and if you have, then you know the basics (I hope) and know that you can't attack different mobs than the tank and expect him to keep hate with something he or she is not focusing on.

I mostly solo'd to 50 and hardly participated in dungeons, banking mostly on larger parties to hide my ineptitude. I rarely had to be the main tank and when I was, I sucked. Never got a primal weapon, never beat the final boss, never fought moogle (though I did set it up at least with thanks to a linkshell).
So far I've been focusing on leveling all the crafting and harvesting jobs. Earlier today I did try to get into the first dungeon, but I got 90000 and was forced out of the game and haven't been able to get back in.
Actually, if you have any tips, I'd love to hear them.
I am now on Sargatanas (was on Gungnir which is a Japanese server) and I think I might like to play with you, that is if you're willing. I'm avoiding playing as my Legacy character until I officially find out what's up with the Legacy story. Right now I'm using a fresh Gramul on Ultros.
Don't be nervous. Get in there and give it a go. I think you will find people are less critical then you might imagine. People have been generally very polite and uncritical as far as my experiences at any rate. If someone has made a mistake though I have only seen minor ones and I have committed a few myself already, they say sorry for that and move on. It is a new game, barely a few days old and people are not going to know everything perfectly or every dungeon layout etc. You'll do great I'm sure![]()
This a million times over. Yesterday we ran Ifrit and I wiped twice as the healer. Second time around my girlfriends archer finished it as we were all laying around with 3rd degree burns. After she left and it was just the 3 of us we were laying around joking about it having a good time for 5 minutes until we got out. Apparently both of us turned out to be couples and we were yelling at each other laughing it up making our respective neighbors think we were insane. I've yet to come across anyone in a bad disposition about others playing abilities.
Oh Gramul.
I've played in lots of parties of both good and bad tanks. And yet we always make it work. If you're in a party work with them! Don't leave or insult.
Here are some pretty harrowing experiences I've had.
Brayflox Longstop
The tank was poorly geared and his weapon was not up to the task of keeping hate. I was on summoner so I called out Topaz Carbuncle to help keep the mobs off the healer. It worked! The tank however did not appreciate the assistance and instructed me to remove my off tank pet from the field and use a DPS Carby. I didn't respond and he left the party. But my pet was still up to the task. Acting as WHM for my Carby as well as the WHM curing our furry tank, the DPS and DoT was just enough to make a long fight of the Dragon and we won. The drops came and everyone had a great experience!
Casturm Meridianum
I was playing WAR this time with another tank also on WAR. However, this tank did not use Defiance. I didn't understand why and the people in the party were half from an FC. They were really mean to the pick up members of the group. It was fairly obvious though that my using Defiance and my command of all the level 50 skills and my AF armor were far superior to the other WAR who didn't seem to understand his job. The FC in the party hurled insults constantly at the DF members, but it became apparent who was tanking everything and the healers focused on me leaving the poor other WAR to hammer uselessly.
At the final boss, the woman in the white armor. I finally gave out instructions to have the Archer who was very competant kite and the other members pick off adds from the group that he marked. The FC in the party jeered and complained. By the end of the fight everyone in that FC was dead and screaming at me for being a bad tank for letting them die.
But we won and it was awesome. Hurray for Tomestones! Thank you for party! \o.o/
exactly, what up till this point does a tank in this game get the where with all to know how to tank? pretty much solo leveling, bust a rock here, bust a boulder there..
people gotta realize solo leveling is just killing with no rhyme or reason,it's not teaching one their role.the main purpose for this is to get the tools you need so one can have the ability to actually do their jobs.Expecting one to just know what they are doing on their first big boss team fight is ludicrous.
this is why raiding falls apart, try giving more positive advise so one can learn a job, rather than just assuming everyone in your group was born playing their role/job
