Sorry if someone already asked about it but i don't have time to read all the posts and i didn't find anythin about this.
What do you guys think about the skill Impulsive Drive from the lancer? It deals 180 when behind the target. During boss fights (when i'm full staked) i always put 2 of these before my Snap Punch, in this way i have 2 seconds left before i run out of my Greased Lightning staks, but since my next attack will be Snap Punch i immediatly refresh them.
So basically my rotation is:
Touch of Death -> Bootshine -> Twin Snakes -> Demolish -> Bootshine -> True Strike -> Snap Punch -> Bootshine -> Twin Snakes -> Snap Punch -> Bootshine -> True Strike -> Impulsive Drive -> Impulsive Drive(at this point i have 2-1 second before my staks run out) -> Snap Punch (i refresh the staks just in time) and repeat.
What do you guys think? i already apologize for my bad english i hope u will understand my point.
Hi. My name is Rockbreaker and I do 130 potency/target.Monk is unpopular because they basically have one job, high sustained DPS on a single target, but fates are all about burst damage and aoe spam, something monks are not good at, and the complexity of their combos drives away most of the rabble, my razer naga says hello to Monk though and im gonna start leveling it now
MNK doesn't have BLM-like AoE, but...Monk is unpopular because they basically have one job, high sustained DPS on a single target, but fates are all about burst damage and aoe spam, something monks are not good at, and the complexity of their combos drives away most of the rabble, my razer naga says hello to Monk though and im gonna start leveling it now
Rockbreaker is fantastic.
What crafts are you monks taking up?
Personally, I working on all the Disciple of Land classes.
As for Disciples of Hand, I'm working on Carpenter and Goldsmith for now. I may expand that down the line.
Actually i never had problems with fates, eaven if i arrive at half fate i always get gold, doesn't matter if single boss or little ones. I really don't understand why ppl doesn't like monks, i'm having so much fun with mine!
Well, I'm quite disappointed. I thought being able to get 3 stacks of Greased Lightning would make it substantially easier to weave True Strike in between Twin Snakes, but it's just not enough. Under ideal circumstances I would just get Twin Snakes off as the buff dropped, but this is not acceptable, because ideal circumstances never occur. As well, I'm only losing 10 potency and 5% crit chance on one ability. I feel as though True Strike is completely pointless.
Other than this though, I love MNK through and through. It's a difficult job to play that keeps me on edge during boss fights, but rewards me with seeing high numbers (Snap Punch crits with full buffs is SO YUM!)
As far as the AoE debate above, stack on the spawns and spam Arm of the Destroyer. You'll get the tag on at least half the monsters that spawn every time. Gold is incredibly easy. Also I don't understand why people say MNK AoE is terrible, Arm of the Destroyer > Twin Snakes > Rockbreaker. It's a ton of AoE damage.
A seemingly knowledgeable PUG wrote this: http://ffxivrealm.com/guides/monk-dps-guide-v2.14/
In it, he states:
Impulse Drive 70 TP (Lancer Level 8 )
Delivers an attack with a potency of 100. 180 when delivered from behind target.
Could be used if you cannot do your rotation for some reason and if you can go behind target. But overall it is not worth the global cooldown, since your rotation all in all deals more damage.
But the main reason, why it is bad to use is not the lack in damage (which will not be true any longer if you have enough crit and haste) but the high TP amount.
Nobody of you made a monk video yet? Lets see these things in video , c'mon LOL
