Would you care so much if you weren't a fan of the franchise or interested in the game? No, you'd have cancelled your order already.

Yes, it's annoying. But Yoshi-P and his crew are doing what they can NOW, and having a temper tantrum isn't going to change any thing.
There's a difference between being a fan of something and being a fanboi or fangirl, and if you don't know the difference, that's part of the problem.

You aren't willing to admit when mistakes were made, when there are FORESEEABLE problems that could've been prevented.

Everything in the game to you is PERFECT and nothing can cloud your vision of the product.

People shouldn't be upset that they can't play the game they paid for? They shouldn't be upset that Square wasn't prepared for something that is foreseeable? Really?

Man the fanbois really ruin a lot of things.

At least I enjoy the game, but can admit the faults.

Well, I think that everyone is aware of the issues. However, crying about it isn't going to change much. There's already tons of threads doing just that. And, they're also already aware of how upset people are. Which is why the OP posted the video. I really think you need to take a break and do something else. Unless, playing FFXIV: ARR is your goal in life.

Also, you can watch these pandas going down a slide. It's made my day brighter.

I stand by my statement. In a week all this crap will be fixed and all of you people constantly complaining will be non existent. Just like every other MMO

You stand by your completely ignorant statement?

Good to know, I can safely disregard anything you have to say concerning the matter.

Worst Launch Ever indeed, i have been there for the major launches including WoW and as bad as that was, at no point could you not register or if you could register could you not play with friends im looking at the character creation screen atm and then once you have made it ALL REALMS ARE LOCKED .... Really all realms not a single one up how the hell can they justify that, yes my friend this is the worst launch of any mmo to date.

Video posted was with regard to the early access not the current state of affairs, and what have they decided to do to fix this.
Increase server load on the Japan servers well that's it fixed i don't know why anyone would be getting bent out of shape because they have paid for something they can't use.

White knighting is only good if your talking sense. People have a right to be pissed!

I always consider the true release of any MMO to be the week after its actual release. I have yet to play an MMO without server difficulties the first few days to a week after launch. This was more expected than a smooth launch. However, learning from history is due in the MMO industry. Have more servers than you know you need. It should of been 25 in Japan, 25 in NA, and 25 in Europe. Then scale down and do merges from there. It is always better to have too many servers than too few. Of course, they know this by now, and it is too late. Still can't wait for next week to buy and play this game though. Loved the beta.

No, I understand why people are upset. I am affected by the issues as well. All that I'm saying is that they're aware of the issues, and are doing what they can to fix it. Server load was precisely what Yoshi-P addressed in that video, and it's precisely the problem that people are having now.

About the JP server complaint, did you not take notice of last night's maintenance? Know what it was for? It was partially for new NA server preparation...

White knighting? Hmmm, don't think so. Cool headed? Yes, I think so. There's more dire things that could be going on than attempting a few more times at logging into a video game.

This is all I'm getting from people being yelling bloody murder. It doesn't help in the least.

I've dipped my toe in network administration, working 3 years for a fortune 500 company. Now, I was not the main admin, that went to a person way more knowlegeable than me. However, that said, the very idea, that all the worlds could be closed in only 3 days speaks both of the enthusiasm of the audience and the strange reaction of the network and hardware teams. There were several red flags that they should have saw coming.

    1) They were importing characters from the old game and inviting people to come back. So there was already a good number of players who were going to be logging into early access and launch from the start.

    2) The overwhelming number of Beta Applications. Applications are a good gauge of interest. People who applied are a) congizant of the game b) want to try it and c) likely players. Your casual workaday player who's never touched an MMO before and doesn't know anyone who plays wouldn't be applying for a Beta and may not even know what a Beta test is. And considering how miniscule the advertising for FFXIV was, that it was geared toward gaming sites and conventions, tells you that 500,000 + applications are going to be likely players of the game.

    3) The Phase 4 crash was a knell of doom. After all the trouble with the bad configuration, critical quest bugs, Early Access code redemption failure and constant lockouts, Launch should have been delayed. The fact that it was not delayed shows that SE still has some ways to go to fix its ongoing What?-I-don't-even internal issues. As it is, people took off work and paid for Early access codes and got not early access, they even have no access.

Had they delayed the launch until they could add more servers, the major hurt could have been buffered. People wouldn't been terrified to log out, thus easing congestion issues, Character creation could continue, welcoming even more players. The digital download would not have been suspended saving far more money than losing.

In the end, hindsight is 20/20. We can't change the past.
