It is by far one of the worst launches ever. For 2 reasons:
1. They are not placing people in a queue(because if too many people enter the queue, it causes everything to blow up)
2. They are limiting character creation on servers(sometimes ALL servers at once).
Those 2 things just scream amateur hour and "we don't know what we are doing".
So in that regard, this is one of the worst launches. And I've been around for most.
3. Many ps3 players can't register the game because the SE accounts aren't working properly
Thousands of people playing... and just that many or more who are unable to play a game they paid for. No MMO launch in recent memory has been as bad as this one, in that this game literally locks out 40% to 60% of its playerbase from even playing.
The fanboy is strong with this one.I am grateful for Yoshi San's courtesy and candor. We are very lucky to have the chance to play this remarkable game, and I am sure things will be sorted out soon. I have seen many many MMOs over the years and there is no reason to say that this team and this support is not good. They are actually achieving miracles daily and hundreds of thousands are playing. It is the overwhelming crush of people all trying to get in at once that is crashing the system, and there was no way on heaven or earth to expect the numbers to be so high. It is being addressed and dealt with, and patience will achieve miracles while bashing the staff and voicing anger will not even make us feel better for more than a few moments. Lets be considerate and courteous and fair. This is NOT the worst launch ever, in fact it is far far better than most. The translation is a bit off but the thought to share it was well meant.
The character limitation is reasonable considering how many people are trying to enter the game, there is no reason on earth for everyone to have all of the possible characters that they may end up with as you can only play one at a time.
It is the huge flow of people that is causing the problem, there is no way to deal with it other than to add servers and there is no game company on earth that will give a development team unlimited servers without seeing the need first. That is the way the head offices work and that is the facts of life. This appears to be one of the best MMOs yet created and many many people are seeing that and eager to come. Let's encourage that and stop the blaming and shaming. It does not help.
Hmm, I'd say there's been much much worse launches. And Warhammer Online isn't on that list, though it really should be. I remember them charging my bank account for a year's subscription, as well as other's bank accounts, without our permission. I wasn't even subbed to the game at the time.It is by far one of the worst launches ever. For 2 reasons:

It is common knowledge, that MMO launches are bad and they are always completely SLAMMED with people trying to login.
They also knew how many preorders they had. They knew the minimum amount of people they needed to be ready for.
But they weren't.
I would've respected your opinion more, but your thread was filled with ass-kissing.
You're another apologetic, another fanboy, and you don't help the game or anyone trying to play.
Bottom line, they should've had the minimum prepared, and they didn't.
That's why we are mad. Every MMO launch is the same, only this one takes the cake with restricting character creation and not placing people into queues.
I've seen that article before, and I was there for most of those launches, not including ALlods and WWII online, which frankly those F2P games shouldn't even be on the list.Hmm, I'd say there's been much much worse launches. And Warhammer Online isn't on that list, though it really should be. I remember them charging my bank account for a year's subscription, as well as other's bank accounts, without our permission. Fact is? Those launches were years and years ago, things have changed.
There should be no excuses anymore for an MMO launch being as bad as this one is. THAT'S the issue. This is one of the worst for multiple reasons.
IT HAD A REBIRTH. No MMO has ever failed so hard that it had to be reborn from the ground up. That's why this is one of the worst launches. Period.
Agreed. And, I think it's silly when people say "fanboi" or "fangirl". Because, yes I'm a fangirl. If I wasn't, then why would I buy the game? And people freaking out are also fans, because apparently it's so life-ruining that they are having registration and login problems. Would you care so much if you weren't a fan of the franchise or interested in the game? No, you'd have cancelled your order already.
Yes, it's annoying. But Yoshi-P and his crew are doing what they can NOW, and having a temper tantrum isn't going to change any thing.
I think I had more issues figuring out their really pathetic account management pages, than I have had logging onto the game.
Its strange how some people are acting as if Yoshi and his team are now sitting back, sipping on tea and enjoying the chaos on FF XIV servers. They are the ones who poured three years of their life into this, I'm sure they want people to play the game and enjoy it (brings in profit too :P)
I can wait it out for a week or so. What I am truly disappointed about is the lack of preparation. They should have seen this coming, or if not, at least take precautionary measures such as high capacity servers / worlds. You can merge the low-populated worlds later, would have saved the gamers some frustration.
