How about look at the positive side. The server issues were due to too many players. That's a good problem to have.

The people saying you only get one chance to make a good first impression. Well, if those players quit because they couldn't get into the game for a few hours or the first few days of early access or launch, they probably wouldn't have stayed in the game very long. The first impression should be based on the actual game itself.

For those of you claiming GW2 had a perfect launch, try using Google. https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...-Start-problem

There is no such thing as a perfect launch especially because it's all subjective. Something that is perfect for you is not necessary perfect for somebody else.

GW2 was not a flawless launch. GW2 had some bugs and server issues as every game does.

People seem to look back with rose-tinted glasses sometimes. Iv heard some complete nonsense about so called good MMO launches. The Majority will usually have a good launch and not be effected but there are always a minority who have prolems, as is the case with this game.

Just because those with issues are the ones shouting about it on the forums, does not mean that everyone is having those issues.

The large majority of people are on servers that dont have issues or at worst have a 30 second quewe or a few quick failed log in attempts before it works.

I myself am on Moogle, the server that has been most full and spent most time with Character Creation closed. Yet having my character already created before this, iv been able to play plenty and when i have had the 90000 or 1017 errors, it hasnt lasted long in most cases and iv never been in a quewe for longer than 30 seconds.

I do not understand threads like these, what are you even trying to say? The smart move is to make enough players quit so the servers are stable?

Do you even realize how dumb that sounds? WoW doubled their server capacity after 1 week, tripled in the first month. You think they became the 'most successful' by saying "Screw you loyal customers, we dont like spending some of the money you gave us!". Get real...

It is growing tiresome having to sit through the white knight heroics of people who just want to talk to hear themselves speak. These issues need to be addressed, they need to be fixed, and SE needs to work hard at repairing a very terrible first impression.

I bought a friend this game, she couldn't log on at all. When she finally could, the server I play on was full and she could not create a character. 'Sometime' in september, she may or may not be able to transfer a character over to where I play, for an additional cost. Do you even understand how absurd that is?

^ Has it been a week? It's been a few days and they are already adding servers as we speak. Why don't you read their announcements? Your assumptions are "absurd". If she was patient and actually read their announcements, she would've been able to create a character on the server you're on. They locked those servers so that YOU can play on a server that didn't constantly crash while they worked on improving the hardware so that it could hold more people.

The ones who cries wolf are usually the ones that are the sheep. Just look at all the users who are crying about the problems. Most of them are legacy players that have level 50s already. It's like crack for them. They have to have it NOW! Don't give it to them now, but they'll still come back because they are addicts.

Bizzybeast, you got to level 26 and it's only been 24 hours after the official launch. I'm glad you're enjoying the game.

There has never been an MMO launch in history that did not have server issues in the first week. The most successful of them all, World of Warcraft had server issues that were just as bad.

Now that you all decided you're going to stay because the game is amazing, they will add more servers and spend more on their data centers.

Wow, talk about a fanboi... look, this is their 2nd shot at this game, and there have been plenty of mmo's that have launched recently without server issues, there really is no excuse. And don't you find it amazing that the JP servers had no issues?

Community makes an MMO. You cannot have community if half of your LS/Guild/FC is stuck trying to log in. What good is it to hype up the game, tease friends with the beta, and then have them buy the game with zero possibility of jumping on the same server that you play on?

It would be really awesome to have the application architecture such that many servers operate a given zone, to the extent that a single world could house every single player in the community. The ramifications are many, specifically that you'd have to have a large enough world with enough content to prevent everyone from being in the same place at the same time and bogging down the clients. More content and a larger world are both good things for the player. Maybe if SE makes it through this, we can look forward to a truly epic future FF MMORPG...

... or if Yoshi manages to work his magic, he may end up transforming this game once the code is optimized and the hardware limitations are eased.

That's from seven months ago, GW2 launched a year ago, strangely enough exactly a year ago. A quick google search would have told u that...... All things considered GW2 had about as flawless of a launch as you could have, i believe they had some latency issues in WvW and a a karma bug that resulted in a few bans, but nothing like this.

Saying that people who quit over this wouldn't have stayed is also completely baseless, and holds no merit. All you could say with certainty is they lost a potential customer.

Also no-one cares that WoW had issues, This is 2013 , not 2004. Besides WoW was unlike anything that had been seen at the time. This, while a great game, is nothing revolutionary and has no excuse for how unprepared they were.

Level 32 archer, glad you're enjoying the game. You can't say with certainty that they lost a potential customer because those who bought the game will try to play it regardless of issues during the first few days of launch. The ones who returns the game due to these issues are the ones that probably wouldn't have lasted long in an MMO anyways. zenmetsu is a legacy player with a level 50 and he's saying stuff like "with zero possibility of jumping on the same server that you play on". They only lock the servers temporarily throughout the day to maintain server stability. My friends were able to get on Excalibur just fine after trying again a few hours later.

Stop using people's level as an indicator as to whether or not they are enjoying the game, you look like a bloody fool. You do not know if they were in 1.0 or not.
