The large community of people who also payed to play this game and can't log in, because you and your ilk are logged in standing around the Aetherytes in AFK zombie mode. That is who says you have to log out.

they need to increase the amount of players that can be online simple as that and its not being done if i get online im prolly just have to stay online forever until they fix it
The log-off feature exists for a reason. If the people who are not playing would log-off then this wouldn't be an issue. An AFK kick timer would fix the problem, allowing the people who are actively wanting to play to do so, while the people who are logged on for no reason (other than that they don't want to have to log in again) would get kicked off to allow the people who want to play to do so.

Standing around as an AFK zombie is not playing the game. Worried about getting kicked while waiting for those really long Duty Finder queues, do some fishing.

The problem is that they knew all the servers were almost at peak capacity with concurrent users logged in on the first day of early access but still decided that it wasn't good enough to add more server for launch.

For the new players coming to FFXIV:ARR that live in the West coast region of NA, if you don't already have friends playing on an NA/EU server then I suggest creating a character on a JP server. The ping is the same as being on NA/EU server because the West coast is in the middle of the two data center regions.

I have no problem logging into Durandel JP legacy server. It feels so empy that I don't even see any shouts near the MB area in ul'dah.

My main character is on Excalibur and have been on Excalibur since 1.0. I've notice a pattern since EA that I can't log into the game until 10pm PST.

Edit: My solution would be to track how many people are trying to log in by:
    1. Create a lobby server that holds all members awaiting to get into their server.
    2. if the amount of players awaiting to get into their server is enough to fill up another server then I would add more servers.
    3. Else, I would just let the amount of users trying to log in die down, and compare the numbers of subscribers I currently have with the total unit sales number to figure out how many subscribers I loss during this time.

Another solution to point players in the right direction, if they cared about ping, is to show their latency to the data centers and let them chose for themselves instead of creating regional list that shows no latency number but implies to the players that this region server is the best for them.

I also want to ask why they removed the population status of a server for the server list. I remember before choosing a server, it would tell me if the server population was already high, medium, or low. Why did SE take out this feature? Is it because all the servers on the server list are already at high pop?

Square Enix has betrayed their western audience

The Reply to JP Players... And I Quote

[NA]Regarding Congestion in Japan Data Center Worlds (Aug. 27)
Thank you very much for playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

In order to be able to welcome a drastically greater number of players, we are starting as early as this week with preparations to increase our facilities, to be ready by early next week. Until that time, we will be continuing to implement these restrictions as required, and we ask for your understanding and patience.

*JAPANESE PROMISED MORE SERVERS WITHIN A WEEK*
