It's a great guide but it doesn't work for the physical copy of the game, which is what this thread is about. :c
This is beyond BS. This is quite possibly the worst freakin thing ever. This is some serious shady practice.
I spent 80 bucks for a paper weight now.

I had a 1.0 account and pre ordered the physical pc CE back in may for all the in game items and early access. I went on the Mog station site to enter my key and I'm a dumbass (SE's vague dumb layout doesn't help) and registered my CE key to a whole new service account... Sent in a ticket and queued up in live chat to see if they can upgrade my standard account and get rid of the new one I created on accident.
Other games like WoW had options for people that wanted to upgrade from standard to CE and even FFXI had an option to overwrite existing reg keys with new ones. I bought the SOA expansion where it gives you the chocobo shirt and all of the previous add ons (even though I already had them all) ect and it worked fine.

Square Enix sent me a code to download the game with the items i pre order to my email, but the code does not work i tried it in the store and the account management- redeem codes. Square Enix can you please send me a new code so i can enjoy my game.

This does not apply to those who already had an account when they played 1.0, we purchased 1.0 and used a code to activate it, thus when we click that box, it does not allow us to put in another

Does not work.
It brings you to the registration and option page, which leads to the same issue.
Having an invalid code for customers with existing accounts.

JUST TO CLARIFY::
Lord Derp's fix is for those that have EARLY RELEASE ACCOUNTS
this will list you as a standard account with 1 day left. if you have that, you will need to register your official account number after the deadline.
so CE owners who are in this situation can only get CE items after they register their official code.
Standard 1.0 account owners do not have this option unfortunately.
