Low frame rates on Gaming PC

    My Comp:
    Phenom II x4 965 BE
    8gigs of Ram
Crossfired Radeon 6870 HD and 6850 HD (13.6 drivers)
    Win 7 64 bit

Now that thats out of the way yes my computer is 'cleaned' up and no I dont have any viruses. No Im not overclocking anything and yes I ran the benchmark and it came up great. I run many MANY other games at much better frame rates than I am getting from this game. Which is to say that even with nearly every thing turned down to low or off Im still getting sub 20fps in 'town'. This is UNACCEPTABLE.

I would appreciate any help in the matter, thanks.

Thats same issue I am having. That and it could be tied to the low FPS but NPC's take forever to load when they do their quest icon takes forever to load to access to quest. My computer is on par with yours as far as specs and yet having same issue and yet no answer....my friend who lives down road and has a crappier computer and slower net connection is not having these issues

I actually tried the beta drivers on my slower pc, because at that time, it had 2x 5770s. I was attempting to get crossfire to work. It actually worked great until the benchmark crashed loading one of the sequences. It happened in the same spot every time. And I noticed when in open beta, the game would crash very frequently. I noticed after uninstalling the beta drivers and returning to the previous version, open beta was stable again. Again open beta was very smooth for both my PCs.

Also another note, when uninstalling the beta drivers, I got a blue screen of death, with one of the GFX drivers listed as the issue, I had to reboot the computer, but after that, it would bluescreen when it was attempting to load windows. I ended up having to go into safe mode, manually uninstalling(checking box to delete drivers) and then reboot, before I could get the computer loaded again. So I'd be very careful about these beta drivers from AMD. I haven't tested them on my faster PC but after that blue screen issue, I decided I would likely wait until the official new drivers come out. I really detest having to troubleshoot a issue where I can't boot into windows normally, due to a beta driver lol.

Adding in the fps in the inn 90fps on my faster comp, 50fps on my slower.

I figured id post my two computer specs. I'm having a issue that is related I believe. IDK what it was but, in phase four I was praising the devs with all the optimizations they had done to the game. Mainly because the game worked a heck of a lot better during phase four(compared to previous phases), it ran smooth on both my PCs. But now in EA I can't hit 60fps at all on both computers. Idk what is up. I wanted to blame it on more characters running about, but it does this stuff when I'm running around just killing monsters. Both my computers GFX fans are on full blast too.

If you haven't yet you could try the new 13.8 beta2 drivers, they are the first to add support for FFXIV.

Other than that I don't know... They either made changes to the graphics engine or then the amount of ppl online somehow make you lag. What kind of fps do you get in the inn room?

I would suggest you run the game in borderless window mode in the display settings if you aren't already. I solved a number of issues switching to it from fullscreen: erratic CPU frequency is now constant, erratic CPU loading is now more consistent, CPU and GPU temperatures are lower, and there is less choppyness. I don't know if I saw an improvement in framerates, but it runs better overall for me.

Well, unfortunately neither crossfire or sli are being properly utilized at this point.

The benchmarks uses SLI properly, but I'll tell you with 100% certainty that SLI isn't optimized in the actual game.

There are areas where I get low fps, then change the camera angle slightly and get triple the amount of fps. My card also has very low GPU usage and underclocks itself in a lot of towns.

The only areas that seem to be utilizing sli are dungeons, but I get 100+ fps in them on a single card anyways.

I made this same comment recently.
    People dismissed it.
I didn't test my SLI performance but it was not like the bench at all.
I am running a monster PC here.
    2x gtx 680 in sli.
I was getting lag in areas though, so I turned my AA off..
I still get lag in some areas and it just does not feel, like my other gpu was being used.

I was hoping someone who tested it would say something..
Anyone test Sli for gpu usage thoroughly?

They said sli would be ready at release..
    Idk now..

on what kind of drive do you have FF installed? (HD/SSD) usually when you have GPU/CPU intesive games installed on a regular SATA drive you get a bit of a hardware lagg because of the read/write operations, specially when moving, because of the constant loading of mapdata
I myself have tera installed on SSD and am running it without problems, no stuttering whatsoever
Sli is fully supported btw :3 i'm running 2 690's (quadSLI)

    My Specs:

    Intel I7-3960x Stock speeds
Asus Rampage IV Extreme with default settings
    32Gb 1600 cl9-9-9-24 X.M.P
Dual GTX690 (326.80 beta) (6040x1080, TriMon surround setup)
installdisk for FF, Samsung 830 series 256Gb SSD)

What drive I have it installed on should NOT matter in the least. Its great that YOU can afford to have an SSD as your storage but MOST of us do not and it most certainly isnt an option for me to buy one just so SE doesnt have to properly optimize this game. I run PLENTY of games , online and off, from the same HDD with ZERO stutter.
