If you have not Preordered the game again (ARR, not your original 1.0 edition) and did not achieve legacy status (I think it required 3 months paid subscription or completing the storyline, I'm not too sure on the details), then you are NOT elegible for Early Access, and will be able to log on the 27th.

Ah, it seems as though I misread your 2nd post. It seems like they're gating patching to Early Access users right now for whatever reason:

Before I registered my PC Preorder, I was receiving that error as well. The error will go away if you register a valid PC Preorder for PC Client or a valid PS3 Preorder for PS3 Client.

Because you aren't authorized to DL the patch until your account is authorized to play. You will likely have to wait until 8/27 @ 2AM PST to update.

That is incorrect. the Patch Client is authorized to patch for those with access to the Early Access. The Lobby is rejecting play allowance, but the Patch Client is authorized to patch for those with proper access.

Correct, but those of us that are allowed to being playing at Early Access need to be updated and ready to go. Since you don't have access til the 27th, there is no reason for you to be updating and taking bandwidth from those that do need it right now!
