Patching: "No valid or active service account is available to play"?

I'm a 1.0 player and there was an update release about 10 hours ago. I logged into the launcher but it gave me:

No valid or active service account is available to play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Everyone else I've spoken to has been able to update with the ~1GB patch?

I could be wrong, but I believe it means that you currently do not have Early Access registered to the account you tried to log in with.

If you register a early access code to your account then try again, you'll get a message stating "Please wait until the start of early access period or official launch to access the game".

Before I registered my PC Preorder, I was receiving that error as well. The error will go away if you register a valid PC Preorder for PC Client or a valid PS3 Preorder for PS3 Client.

My CE PC key has been registered on the account since 1.0, I understand I don't get Early Access but why/would that mean I can't get patched?

Probably gating the updates, so the servers aren't being overwhelmed by tons of people that can't play yet. Those that can though will have an easier time getting started. Probably have to wait until the 27th or the day before to patch.

If you have not Preordered the game again (ARR, not your original 1.0 edition) and did not achieve legacy status (I think it required 3 months paid subscription or completing the storyline, I'm not too sure on the details), then you are NOT elegible for Early Access, and will be able to log on the 27th.

1.0 CE does not =/= Early Access. Only Legacy Accounts from 1.0 get Early Access.

Not all 1.0 are Legacy. All Legacy are 1.0.

Correct. You had to buy 90 days of paid subscription in order to be Legacy. Non-Legacy w/o Pre-order are locked out of the game until 8/27.

Ah, it seems as though I misread your 2nd post. It seems like they're gating patching to Early Access users right now for whatever reason:

Yes... I'm aware of this, I mentioned in my last post "I understand I don't get Early Access".

Because you aren't authorized to DL the patch until your account is authorized to play. You will likely have to wait until 8/27 @ 2AM PST to update.
