For those who traded Early Access codes based on regional problems, you might be doing that again when release on the 27th arrives. I've read around the forums that the retail code that we will receive on the 27th will/might be region locked too. There will be mass trading again of retail codes IF the 20-digit early access code is not tied to the account.

These are things we don't know:

1.) Are the Early Access (20-digit) codes LINKED/related in any way to the retail code on release date/launch?
2.) Will they come up with a REAL SOLUTION to those having region problems (perhaps, making it region free for a time?)
3.) Is the retail code on the 27th REALLY region locked?

Sorry, just giving you guys a heads up. I'm already thinking of opening a thread and securing some people who would be willing to trade their region-mismatched retail codes on the 27th.

What's worse is that people who might have traded NA codes that might have been acquired via the Amazon pre-order cancelling trick for EU codes unwillingly acquired from GMG will get into trouble.

If i have to go through this for launch i might as well return the game. Devs wont respond to the ps3 players stuck with EU codes and ticket support is stupid and tells you keep trying something that doesn't work. Haven't got time to be jumping through hops on something that should have been fixed days ago or never happen in the 1st place.

    1) Probably not. Indications are the retailer will be sending another retail code via email if you bought the digital download, and the code will be in print in the box if you bought a physical copy.
    2) They have never done so for any of their other games so far, I don't see that changing. They also refuse to change your key if you have bought one that is from the wrong region.
    3) 99% yes, version 1.0 was like that, so was FFXI

I am also a victim of GMG, was given a Euro key when I needed an NA key, and not allowed to exchange or get a refund. My only option is to risk a trade when I get my retail code, because I don't want to lose my existing longtime NA account and neither do I want to pay for subs in Euro currency. QQ I wish had never heard of GMG, if I had purchased from Amazon I would not have any problems right now, and if I had, I would be able to easily cancel for a full refund.

EDIT: A lot of people are confusing the issue with the temporary problem where they received EU pre-access codes due to a bug in the websites. That was just a temporary problem that has been resolved. The problem is, some of us have been duped into buying a wrong region key with no option of cancelling. SqEx refuse to do anything to rectify this.

=[ Are you serious? GMG sent euro keys when they put up the game as NA? I thought I was just having the region bug! =/
So the only way out is buy another copy?

Some people got Euro keys. GMG decided to be "clever" and give you keys based on your IP address. If you were not overseas on vacation or business, or were not masking your IP when you purchased from them, you *should* be ok.

If you were inadvertently assigned a Euro key though, GMG will not refund or exchange, and SqEx will tell you there is "nothing" they can do. After a 5 hour wait in the support queue. Also, no amount of re-entering the 18 digit key for redemption on the SE site will produce an NA 20 digit key since you technically actually bought a Euro key. GG.

Amazing news to everyone who purchased NA version from GMG and got the EU instead: They just refunded my money so I could buy the NA version this time! Just open a ticket at their site, be polite! Took me 2 hours to get the reply, but gosh am I happy! =D

    Rejoice!

SERIOUSLY?!?! NICE! I opened a support ticket already in GMG a few hours ago. No reply yet though. Did you explicitly demand a refund? What I told them is that I should be reassured an NA code on launch.

I just opened a ticket also. Demon, does your receipt actually say "NA" in the title of game? If so, GMG have definitely screwed up. If not, your IP address may not be considered to be North America according to GMG's website. (This is how they "determine" which region you should fit into). If you didn't explicitly buy the NA version, I would be asking for store credit and then repurchasing again with that in mind. However you will have to pay slightly more because they no longer have a 25% discount, only a 20% discount (code is on the home page).

EDIT: never mind. Wow you got lucky Demon, a full credit.... the other guy only got store credit... and I didn't get any response yet.... I would NOT buy from GMG, just go straight to Amazon. At least they have good cancellation policies.

Wrong, this has not been fixed. In fact the site is still setting NA users to UK. The only way to currently keep it as NA in all possible locations, is to not close the page after saving it and open second page to enter the code. Now it has been working hit and miss with some, but I have 2 friends currently locked out with EU code that happen after the supposed fix.

The only fix we have found thus far, with the lack of SE, support or mods, is to cancel the preorder, re-preorder for a new code and follow the above info with profiles before entering the code. I know this is not feasible for everyone, especially you that ordered from GMG, but if you really want to make EA at the start, this is all we have as a option...

Unless you like waiting for a company that considers you as a second class group.

Somewhat related to this issue, if I decide to give my EU pre-order code and copy of the game to a NA friend, would he be able to pay the subscription comfortably? I've been thinking there'd be no problem if he pays in Crysta but I'm having my doubts.
