Welp, looks like I'm heading to gamestop tomorrow. I got me a Sony console to reserve.
RIP, Microsoft. I hardly knew ye.
I'm a member of the PC master race, so I tend not to meddle in the affairs of you teeny-weeny console players. *evil laugh*
But dayyyuuuuummmmmm, Microsoft dug themselves one hell of a grave. Of course, it'll still sell - there are always idiotic brewski bradooski backwards-hat-wearing madden-and-call-of-duty-playing muscleheaded college fratboy guidos who will buy it. Complete offense to any fratboys - I truly hate you all.
I wonder how the Wii-U is doing in the midst of all of this? The Wii did exceptionally well during the last generation, surprisingly.
The three console giants basically saw the same thing: customers were getting ready to break up with them. They were getting too clingy, too costly, they weren't very fun anymore, and they just couldn't be trusted. Hysterically, all three companies basically engaged in the same behavior people do when a relationship is in danger.
Microsoft got insecure and domineering... it didn't want you sharing things with your friends, it started following you around and listening in on your conversations... checking if you lied about how many people were really at your "party"
Sony just wanted to make things right. It knows the gaming industry is making some mistakes right now, but baby, it can change! It'll be like it used to be, but better!
Nintendo... did what it always does when it thinks you're going to break up with it. It just told you, "Whatever, baby. Call me when you get your head together." and started working on the next Pokemon game, because you'll come back. You always come back.
I love that Sony's response to Microsoft is basically, "Look at how you're trying to solve your problems by making them worse! That's pretty funny!" while doing its best to make consoles relevant in 2014. Personally, I think they made a pretty good case for getting a PS4. It's about the price of a modest PC upgrade and will see you through the next generation of console/system exclusives without getting all anti-consumerist on you. I'm sold. Bring on that XV and KH3!

Oh, but the Xbone is so much creepier than that:
MS patent for serving ads based on mood, body language, speech patterns (article link)
MS patent for watching you to see if you're looking at the TV during ads, and rewarding with achievements (article link)
I'm definitely very tempted, but to be perfectly honest I liked quite a few of the exclusives xbox one pulled out... I definitely won't be getting either at launch, but I don't see myself getting an Xbox One ever, and this is coming from someone who has 200+ 360 Games, a windows phone and a surface tablet...![]()
I want to quote that like... everywhere. The three console giants basically saw the same thing: customers were getting ready to break up with them. i cant believe microsoft would be so stupid. whoever was the lead on the xbone proably handed their resignation last night >_>
i mean come the hell on. what microsoft is trying to pull is just obscene. not to mention those scary-as-hell patents.
ill be getting a ps4 at launch, theres too many good up-and-coming titles to not get it.
The major difference, is that this is still optional. You don't have to sign up to a PSN account to use your PS4 (unless you want to do online gaming). XBone you have to sign up and pay for extra online fees, even if you never plan on using it!
Common Sense is a language most misunderstood on the continent of the MMOForum
And even *single player* games will stop working if your console doesn't phone home every 24 hours or so.. screw that.
