I hate this thread...cause now I want donuts ~_~

Oh of course, I didn't mean to suggest that you or anyone here actually said that, I'm just saying in general that some people in betas sometimes behave that way is all. XDThat's an almost perfectly fitting comparison.
Mind you, no one said that beta testers are "employees", but they're definitely brought on board to provide a service, not to benefit from a free perk. As a matter of fact that participation is not free at all, as we're required to pay with our time and our service as testers. It's give and take.

Okay, so if the Welcome Back campaign is our specific form of free trial...
...then...
...what's the problem?
Okay, I think, no matter how you chalk it up, we are getting a period of free time with the game after beta. So, I think we're good. Yeah, we're good. It's all good.
...my head hurts...
Also.... there is no Krispy Kreme anywhere near me anymore... all we have is crummy Dunkin Donuts here. It's not SO bad... but it's not Krispy Kreme... and yes it too is closed at 12:42 am...

Cronuts:
The cronut is made from thin layers of flaky croissant dough that are deep fried and then carefully injected with a light Tahitian vanilla cream. A thin layer of rose-flavored glaze coats the top layer. Purple colored candied rose petals add some crunch but also make for a beautiful garnish.
Some think that two weeks might not be enough to entice the part of the 1.0 playerbase that's more jaded, and I'm kind of in that camp as well, especially considering that a whole lot of people expected a month.
Two weeks are more than enough for me (I already preordered the PS3 version anyway, because I'm a sucker), but they're in line with many "welcome back" campaigns that a ton of other developers do, despite the fact that their games didn't fail as badly as 1.0 did.
I'm of the opinion that SE would receive a bigger benefit in terms of account reactivation and retention by giving a full month. It's definitely a more enticing bait for those that are on the fence if to return, and it's really not much of a difference in terms of expenses for SE to host the freeloaders for a month instead of two weeks.
"you get one month for free to try out the game" simply has a much stronger communication effect than "two weeks". It's past that threshold with which people perceive it as a true freebie (because it's the standard you get when you buy a new game), and not just a normal welcome back campaign, of which you read quite often for many games.
Basically if SE would offer the download of the game plus one free month, more people would perceive it as they're getting a full package new MMORPG for free, while two weeks kind of looks half-hearted, and communicates the "we're giving you a completely new game for free" idea less effectively.
That even because SE should probably focus more on communicating the "completely new game" idea than the "welcome back" idea, that kind of suggests that they're returning to an old one.
Will the sky fall if they don't give a month? No. This doesn't mean that it wouldn't be better and it's not worth being discussed and suggested. if we were only to discuss about world-ending possibilities, we'd talk only about cake.
Ah, yeah, I gotcha now![]()

My supermarket sells Krispy Kreme, but only the glazed kind. I have a Dunkin' Donuts here as well.
