    1) Being put into an auto-party will often lead to unbalanced or unoptimized party setups, just like in FFXI.

    2) what's the purpose of having individual servers if this crap becomes available, aside from the obvious tech issues?

    3) What about server pride?

If they are going to do something like this, please don't make it automated. It always has and always will lead to problems.

I experienced this in WoW. I was not a fun of cross server dungeons at all. Cross server content destroys sense of community and world. PvP was much better before Battlegrounds and Arenas, people knew each other and you had rivalries. Cross server BGs and Arenas killed that to me. Cross server dungeon finder killed the last sliver of community I actually did feel in the game and I ditched my 9k achievement warlock because of it. I won't stick around here either. I know the pros and cons but to me the cons are just not worth the pros. Just my opinion though.

Good post, for the first question they could have it setup the way party search is setup right now i.e. being able to select which classes you want and level range.

I think this would be a good idea for players that like to solo. Also a good idea for players with limited time to play and want to team up for some sp. The fact is that even though some players are on a MMO doesn't mean they want a linkshell or to socialize. I also think after players learn the system they will do fine. I think anyone playing strives to do well, not be a hinderance to a group.

First off... doing this pretty much prevents them from dealing with the negative outlook people get when an MMO merges servers. Secondly, Kashuan is dead... so bring on the cross-server grouping!

    sounds good to me.
running into the wrong ppl can happen on my own server aswell, not just while using this feature, also, this shouldn't damge the community at all.
if there aren't the right ppl with the right jobs on at the same time, why not use the feature and group up with ppl from different servers that happen to have exctly the jobs you're looking for.
how often was i told to go as class i didn't want to use, just because noone else was on with that class, well, now we could borrow that class from a different server ^^.

Just listing people are mean or you'll run into noobs are not very strong arguments, because I run into those things now without cross-server grouping.
Why not, suggesting alternatives could be a great idea. Why not say a simply (in-world) search with a few basic parameters.

1: class choices (you can fill up to seven choices. but of course you are shooting yourself in the foot here)

2: physical level (say, default is 3 levels either way of yours

3: class rank (same params as physical level)

4: choose one of your current quests from a list (if any, there could be an option for simply grinding, leves or behest, or even leave this blank)

5: additional comments: a small paragraph you can fill in if you wish, explaining a little more about your needs.

Edit: it will form a list and you can /tell the people on that list. no need to commit, no need to leave a party if its not to your liking. The legwork is done and you already are communicating in a possitive way with someone on your own server

    ++++++++++

given time, it will form a party, already you are communicating across the world.

(after all the hellos are done)

    /p <name1> ok, lets meet in <location>

/p<name 2-8> ok, on my way to <location>

    simple but effective

Don't worry to much about it Mr. Hedgehog. This argument is as one sided and boring as:

    1. No to jumping.
    2. Yes to hardcore(easymode FFXI timesink) game play.
    3. No to helm hiding.
    4. No to superior western MMO genre advancements.
    5. No to instanced dungeons.
    6. No to combat logs.

Anytime the best arguments presented for or against a change relate to "my sense of immersion" "community" "realism" or "my feelings" all that can be done by sane people is too let it go.

Blizzard handed SE, on a silver plater, the best possible way to keep a game focused on group play, they ignored it at launch when enough people played to have single server ques work and now are shifting gears towards this. I don't support it but only because i still hate them for not doing it right in the first place.
