I think you forget about the part where people just randomly drop group after getting their loot or they ninja loot crap because they don't have to worry about their rep if they're playing with people from another server.1. It will not destroy communities especially when some servers are highly populated and others aren't.
2. You already most likely play with a decent LS and noone is going to force you to use the cross server feature. I will likely never use the feature unless I sign on at an odd time and just want to run a quick dungeon.
3. Enough said.
No thanks.
I think we can all pull random ideas out of thin area and post but what is the use? The reason players are posting is because the dev's inferred this to be a possibility and that is why players are commenting. Just because noone has made a post does not mean they don't care. There are many things I have not thought of that when someone posts I have ideas on. I think that is what the forums are for.

Before i go running towards a brightly colored flaming ball in the sky. i want to know if its the sun or a asteroid.
if that's a bit cryptic for some of you, I would want to know the intended uses of said system before i decide if it would be a good or bad thing, or if it would be a feature i would consider using at all.
An Aware, Informed, and Critical community is vital for the success of a game.~ John "Totalbiscuit" Bain
That's just being lazy.
Well simply don't use the feature if you don't like it, you ain't gotta whine about it.

I would like to party with ppl from other servers, in limited circumstances, yes.

Stop proliferating, dammit.
This is very similar to the search function we have now. Your system and the current one could be applied to cross-server grouping. Why not, suggesting alternatives could be a great idea. Why not say a simply (in-world) search with a few basic parameters.
1: class choices (you can fill up to seven choices. but of course you are shooting yourself in the foot here)
2: physical level (say, default is 3 levels either way of yours
3: class rank (same params as physical level)
4: choose one of your current quests from a list (if any, there could be an option for simply grinding, leves or behest, or even leave this blank)
5: additional comments: a small paragraph you can fill in if you wish, explaining a little more about your needs.
Edit: it will form a list and you can /tell the people on that list. no need to commit, no need to leave a party if its not to your liking. The legwork is done and you already are communicating in a possitive way with someone on your own server
++++++++++
given time, it will form a party, already you are communicating across the world.
(after all the hellos are done)
/p <name1> ok, lets meet in <location>
/p<name 2-8> ok, on my way to <location>
simple but effective
Let people put in search parameters and let them talk to each other before hand and things should work out.

Lost cause.
The issue is. People will not quit because its not implemented, but they will quit if it IS implemented. If they don't, add it, everyone who enjoys game now will still enjoy game as no change made.
Gets my vote, if...
If it's a smooth & easy to use system.
No need to make it too compliacted.
Pick a dungeon, pick LFG....wait a few sec & here we go!
I used to be Noomy...then i took shiva's Hail Storm to my knee...
