I agree with the "let's rub it in their faces by quoting everything they said and listing their names."

Here's every single thing I said in this thread on the subject of Scholar. See if you can find the spot where I said anything other than, "I find it very unlikely, but I don't think unlikely is enough to count it out. For each time someone states why they think it's probably going to happen, I'll state why that's not very convincing to me, and then we'll see!"

I said I wouldn't take it personally if I was wrong, and I don't. I called it wrong - the mofo pulled off the unlikely! In half the time it took them to make 1.0, they built a game twice as good with twice as much in it and added entirely new classes. That's amazing.

So... am I missing something that justifies "let's make fun of him for not thinking it was likely even though he was never a jackass to anyone about how he's obviously right and they're a food for not seeing it?"

I think the most forceful thing I've said was that if I was wrong I should probably just stick to commenting on lore from now on seeing as that's what my strong suit is.

I don't see how it was Unlikely when it was clearly Scholar...>.> As much as he's twisting and turning this into your over the shelf MMO, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't take an iconic look for a job and slap it on something else.

The aesthetic wasn't ever unlikely. What seemed unlikely to me was that they'd do everything they've done so far and then add this much on it. Originally, not even SMN was going to be ready for launch and now people are saying an entirely new class/job as well?

As for twisting and turning, look at Bard. FFXI's style of bard is all but irrelevant in this system and they made it something new and exciting. It's not like it makes Ranger impossible, especially considering Rangers traditionally use Great Bows.

I figured Scholar would be the same way, and it turns out I just called the wrong side of the argument. They did shift it, just into a different scholar. With how similar the words scholar and arcanist are in etymological origin, it wouldn't be a stretch for them to legitimize and unfamiliar job with familiar armor from a similar but not-needed part of the franchise. Again, I called the wrong angle.

With Bard, it was "look at all the facts," with Scholar turned out to be "if it looks like a duck..."
