Please let those that already own FFXIV 1.0 purchase preorder privileges

People that supported this game since the beginning shouldn't need to buy a second (and for most people useless) copy to get full privileges.

The fact that they get "nice things" is kind of irrelevant, even for a business perspective. Giving people more options to give you money is pretty much always advantageous.

How many do you think will get a full second copy to get two collectibles and early access? I guarantee it's gonna be a negligible percentage.

Offer the same privileges as an upgrade to their account, and the money will roll in much higher quantities, because people will consider it like a DLC, and DLCs sell, a lot.

No one is asking SE to give anything for free. What I'm asking is to grant those privileges for a fee.

That fee is the cost of another copy. Reality sucks but that's the truth of it. If you pre order the ps3 version I guess adding that onto your account would cover the extra goodies with the bonus of being able to use two different platforms. Of course if you have no ps3 then that option isn't very appealing.

You'd be *very* surprised to know how many people love to collect every single special and collectors item in their favorite MMORPG. It may not be enough to get them get another full copy, but for 10 bucks? You can bet your pants and hose that a lot would cave.

"reality sucks" is an immense cop out.

"reality" is that giving people more options is a smart business move. A whole lot of people would be turned off by the idea of buying a whole new copy for a game they already have. An upgrade? Many'll do it, and that doubtlessly means more money for SE.

I'm always baffled at seeing how some people are instinctively opposed to the idea of giving paying customers options.

Well, besides the fact that it would probably raise more controversy concerning things like the Legacy campaign, the legacy chocobo, the goobue and stuff that only V1 players were able to get. New players will whine that they should be able to get that stuff for a fee as well. And thus, THE EVIL CASH SHOPS will be born...

Why not just let new players get something that only they can get? Like I said, it's rather small. I understand the desire to own everything. Hell, even as a legacy player, I missed out on a lot such as some holiday items and stuff. But I understand this is an mmo, new and unique items come and go.

But, as I said before...this just might be my bias talking. And my hatred of cash shops.

New players have no reason to complain, as they didn't support this game previously. Doesn't make the slightest sense.

Because they did absolutely nothing to deserve it. Jumping on the bandwagon when it's easy and nice shouldn't give you perks that those that supported the game for years can't get.

BESIDES the fact that Some players COULDN'T play V1.X as it required a graphically heavy computer. I have ls mates that have been eagerly awaiting the PS3 version so that they can play as well. Why should they be punished!?

Not everyone that initially supported the game is a legacy player. There's plenty that paid for game (CE or Standard) and for up to two months of account, and I doubt they should be excluded from the preorder items in favor of those that never gave SE a dime before today and are also paying a lower price for the game since it now costs a lot less than it did.

This, of course, not even considering the undeniable fact that offering this kind of option is a good business decision for SE because it'll net them more money.

It required a very average gaming PC to play decently. It doesn't matter. No one is asking to take away their advantage, but to extend them to those willing to pay for them, and that honestly deserve them.

To respond to your question, yes, you're biased because of your hatred for cash shop, but this isn't a cash shop, and a similar option is already offered with the CE upgrade, so adding this doesn't make a single difference towards cash shops.

the problem is that non-legacy people, that have active accounts, are sort of in a twilight zone.
we're to late for legacy status, and since we already got accounts, there's no reason to pre-order another copy of the game.
Even if we preorder another copy, we wont get early access, unless we start a new account? which is not what we're looking for...
i couldn't care less about cait sith, and that cap, but i'd want early access somehow; but right now there's no way of doing that without pre-order new copy, and early access on new account?
otherwise i'd consider pre-order a CE, but that wouldn't fix the problem either.
