Seeing problems for old servers at ARR release?

The way I understand it is that Old players will not be able to transfer to a New Server. That doesn't mean they wont be able to transfer to another Old server. I'm sure we won't be locked into just one server. It would defeat the purpose of making regional servers for people that want to have a better ping.

Your understanding is incorrect. There will be new servers available that everyone can join and 1.0 characters can transfer to, and then there are also "fresh start" servers which only accept new characters.

The "old servers" are all located in japan. You will only remain on those servers if you choose not to transfer elsewhere.

This is new to me. Granted, I haven't payed too much attention to server transfers. Do you happen to have a source where it states all old servers will remain in Japan? I thought "old servers" really meant the server world itself. What's to say they don't copy the "world" over to another server in a different region? I highly doubt they will force all old players that had lag issues in the Japanese-based severs to stay there. I may be wrong though.

SE has not announced the details. They said they would do so around Phase 3 (perhaps mid- or late May, based on their roadmap).

My guess is that maybe Ragnarok (the "EU server") might default its players to a server in Europe, but the rest, or at least any with a significant percentage of JP players, would default its players to a server in Japan.

or they could do what i said early which make the most sense make new names for servers. Because how many people going to get piss at the fact there world is now JP. So it's best just to rename all the worlds and set some to JP,EU or NA.

For the same reason you stated, It wouldn't be fair to the japanese for those servers to be moved elsewhere as their lag would increase, and everyone else is already used to the original setup. It makes no sense for them to move the old servers.

• In the event that you don't complete the transfer procedure, you will be transferred to a pre-determined world.
• In the event you complete the transfer procedure, you can select from a list of worlds you can move to and will be transferred to the world of your choice.

This information basically states that if you choose not to transfer anywhere, you will automatically end up on the same world with all the other people from your old world that also did not choose to transfer.

That is why you wouldn't move ALL the "old" servers to a different region and leave some in Japan. Giving the option of "old" server to "old" server transfers for "old" players at launch (which I'm pretty sure they said will be possible), they give everyone the option of choosing which server fits their needs the best.
