They could probbably do a visual novel like bethesda did with mass effect on the PS3. Or... a strategy RPG version with just some cutscenes woven into the game. /shrugs depends how much SE would want to put into such a venture.

True enough, but then I gather they completely rewrote the server structure for ARR, so I wonder how much they'd care that it was out there. If they intended to sell off the rights to it, then it might bother them, but if it was being tossed on the scrapheap, they might be less concerned.
You're right of course, but I just wanted to hear what the community's opinion on it was. If it were available, would you play it?
Yeah that kind of thing sounds like a lot more effort to do; ie requiring significant programming time. However, I guess it's the kind of thing we'd see on an ARR 20th Anniversary celebration project for Google Glass 4.0 or something in that distant future time...

still have to remember ©square-enix which means you have to pay if you want to use and thats gonna cost many times more then the normal person can afford. i also dont think SE licence out there IP's.True enough, but then I gather they completely rewrote the server structure for ARR, so I wonder how much they'd care that it was out there. if ARR is popular enough maybe they can do like EQ and put out 1.0 servers.

Bioware made Mass Effect.... not Bethesda. lol You are getting your developers mixed up. XD
As for an offline mode... I think the best bet at that is some independent person making one. However I'm sure they will require permission to distribute it and who knows if Square Enix will allow it.
