thanks Denmo you rock! ^.^That's just it. In order for them to afford a free to play model they will have to continually come up with stupid little content for people to buy. And that will slow down the process of making large expansions and additions to the story. Because nobody's going to pay for something that isn't new, that's why league of legends Releases a new champion every other week.
I don't know about you but I'm just hunky-dory paying $12 a month.

Pay no attention to the troll in the corner....back to doodles!
Not really. If the F2P brought in higher populations, higher profits, they can easily drum up cash shop and game content. That's just it. Lower profits equals lower demand for new content, whether it's a F2P or P2P model.
I really think that F2P is a topic that deserves (and has many times had) it's own topic. Please try to keep to light chatter in here, or ideas/requests for pictures, as that is what this thread is for. If you really wish to have an in depth discussion about something as serious and complex as the various payment models of various games (all of which have many facets, both good and bad), please discuss it in a thread that either already exists on this topic or create one of your own. We're in a big forum here, not everything has to be in this thread, and I'm still concerned that you seem to be making a distinct effort to pull the thread away from it's purpose of light hearted fun.
New Game: I will say a topic. The next poster must use that topic as part of a story from their FFXIV experience. For instance'
Hamlet: My most memorable Hamlet run was when I pulled all the mobs as a crafter and kited a whole wave while everyone else widdled down the forces. I called it "Being a dragon. rawr"
Your first topic: Unlocking your first job (PLD, DRG etc.)
Less talk more doodles please![]()
I unlocked Dragoon. I thought it was gonna be a "new job" but it turned out to be just a couple new skills. Pretty lame

Not sure people are quite understanding the game aspect of it LOL Folks, you make a chain of topics ;PNew Game: I will say a topic. The next poster must use that topic as part of a story from their FFXIV experience. For instance'

Unlocking PLD: I heard you could solo all the level 30 job quests easily so I thought they were on par with the storyline quests. I went as a level 30 GLA to unlock its job and had me arse firmly handed to me by several level 30-35 foes if I recall correctly. Didn't know you could change classes inside the instance. Soon got my revenge as a THM though ^_^
Next topic: Snurbles!

Glad to see some Balthier love around here. That guy just oozed charm lol.
As for why I started playing FFXIV, it's seriously eerily similar to Nique, like almost exactly except for preferred class/job... so I'm just gonna quote her
The only thing I might add is that based on the original concepts released to the public, I was also hoping for a slightly more technologically advanced world for an MMO, a bit like FF12 when it comes to say airship design and towering metropolitan cities like Archades. That part didn't really stay true though did itWhen XI became too much of a chore to play due to needing hours to do even the smallest tasks, we had a big party, gave away all our Gil and hard won items and never looked back.
Then FFXIV came out, got new computers, collection editions... Played it because there were so many good memories from XI that I wanted to see if this new world would make more~! it was clumsy but... I enjoyed it for the most part I suppose... but then I took about 8 months break because there were so many flaws that I just didn't want to deal with. I missed the Summer (swimsuit) event because of my break. Later I came back and things were different, with every patch something was fixed or improved and the game (finally) became a pleasure to play.
...
I really, really, really am looking forward to having my own home and raising superb Chocobos once again...![]()
