?? They had that exactly during Alpha and people hated it. And TC, assuming you haven't been living under a rock I'm gonna assume you know that battle changes are coming soon, what's the point of making this topic now?I was actually thinking of starting a discussion on the effects that removing the stamina gauge would have on the battle system. Perhaps this thread can serve as that discussion. Personally, I see no reason why they couldn't borrow the concept of a global cool down from another big name MMO to act as the limiter to action spamming. That could allow for the removal of the stamina gauge.
People always hate things for various reasons. Some I hear a lot is "It's not like FFXI" and "It's too much like WoW". Both were probably said in this case. I wasn't around for alpha, but I'm sure I would have liked it if I had experienced it.
Well the problem was at the time, for most people, that the global cooldown was too slow so it was longer between abilities which is why they changed it to constant button mashing with a depreciating stamina gauge. I don't know what I want but I agree with TC I want something more engaging and funner than what we have now, I'm hopeful its coming soon.
Then I guess the proper question here is was it a good move to go from GCD to Stamina? In my experience once the stamina gauge runs out, battle slows down to a halt. I can only imagine that the alpha GCD wasn't that slow. Perhaps they should have just shortened the GCD in stead of scrapping it.Well the problem was at the time, for most people, that the global cooldown was too slow so it was longer between abilities which is why they changed it to constant button mashing with a depreciating stamina gauge. Oh it was, it was at a snail's pace trust me....I'll try and dig up a video of it on youtube. Then I guess the proper question here is was it a good move to go from GCD to Stamina? Skip to the 3 minute mark of this video and obviously ignore the lag but the cooldown was fairly long at that time...I guess they could've sped it up, I don't think it would've saved the battle system. I think for solo the battle system is decent, they need to give us better attacks but it needs touching up for party play.

Oh god, that was painful. But seeing it I believe that it would have been much better if they just sped it up a lot. It would have ended up being better than the current stamina gauge. Well, that's my opinion, anyway.Oh it was, it was at a snail's pace trust me....I'll try and dig up a video of it on youtube.

OMG :/ that was terrible. Even the guildleves. I played in Beta, and I now feel sorry for Alpha people. :[Oh it was, it was at a snail's pace trust me....I'll try and dig up a video of it on youtube.

The reaction time is painfully slow, but the benchmark for improvement here isn't the earlier versions of XIV but other MMOs like Aion and WoW, MMOs where when I push a button, my character immediately freakin' DOES SOMETHING!Oh it was, it was at a snail's pace trust me....I'll try and dig up a video of it on youtube.

I also hate to say it but I like that interface much better than the current one...
