Same, I'd personally prefer behemothmen myself, but ronso barely loses to it for awesome looking, buff kitty race. ^_^

This is one of the few MMOs today where every race is just a human variant.

Thank you. Mithra/Miquo'te make me so sad because they are no where near as cat-looking as they should be. I'd dislike Viera for the same reason. If any kind of animal/beast is added, it needs to actually look like an animal/beast.

Don't give me a human in costume; Ronso is closer to what I would want (as someone else suggested in here)

@ the thread topic: I doubt single sex will make a return. No matter what gets added (which is years from now anyway).

I still don't know who or why people wanted a male miqo'te or female roegadyn. Who actually looks at the sexy cat/bunny ears and tail and thinks "you know, I want a dude to have ears and a tail" or looks at the roegadyn and says "you know, i bet a muscular and beefy looking woman would be fun to play."

Agree, OP, succinctly put. IMHO if one finds it "weird" to have a certain type of race with both genders playable, it is probably due to gender stereotypes, homophobia of some sort, and/or sexism.

With Viera as an example: bunny ears are often associated with beautiful, enticing young women that are unashamedly sexually appealing. If one finds that untroubling, but replacing "women" with "men" in that description makes it offensive or "weird", I believe there is a problem. Similarly, making a big, weird looking lizard race male-only sends a negative message that visible, obvious physical strength and being unattractive is only acceptable for males.

Sorry for the mini rant, it is a pet peeve of mine when only female characters are sexy-fied while only male characters are big and unattractive because of such (not) wonderful reasons as: "eww, who wants to look at that" or "dude, that would be so gay". Single gender races are often just an extreme manifestation of this attitude.

While I feel like Miqo'te are already filling the Viera slot, if people want them then by all means add them in, as XIV is kinda an all FF games mash up anyways. I'd prefer them not to be gender locked because we have already had so much drama over the male mithra/miqo'te etc in XI and XIV. I am glad they are adding the "missing genders" in.

Personally I'd prefer some of the other FF races as pcs as well. They would have to be called something different but I would love Ivalice style Moogles. Or as others have mentioned Baanga or Ronso? Or Gaudo from FFX? FF has a lot of races already designed to choose from.

Sex does not matter in MMOs anymore.. you're always gonna have about 90% of the population be dudes playing as girls anyways...

Actually, 40% of gamers are women and the number keeps going up. It just feels like they are all 'dudes' sometimes. But really, there are LOTS of girls playing this game...lots....in big-endgame-elite LS and everything.

I'd like to see the Padjal as a playable race. They resemble Gria a fair amount and are already in the game. Win, win!

If people are so vigilant against them, maybe what they could do is just add more options to miqote, not to be limited to Human felines. Let people can choose the animal type, between cat and bunny, and they both have their own tribes or something lol. That way at least I can at least say they are not -cough-fail-cough- copies of Mithras from FF11 .

But I personally would prefer Vierras in game.

However Yoshida does not want Vierras and has said it many times. He really doesnt want them.

Well, he's extremely timid and afraid of everything because he's the last / next to last of his race and he's paranoid about going extinct, though through playing the game and developing relationships, he changes a bit.
