Hey no matter how good ARR turns out to be there will still be those idiots and ppl stuck in the past that will still not like it. ARR could cure cancer and some dumbass journalist somewhere still wont like it.

All that really matters is enough of us do love it which after today I dont doubt it at all.

FFXI was met with some extremely rough reviews and the game still lives and breathes, on a subscription model no less. a game can also be a critical success only to fall flat after a few months. SWTOR and GW2 are noteworthy examples.

tl;dr most of these media outlets serve as nothing more than a way to manufacture hype. and while hype sells boxes, it doesn't even *begin* to guarantee longevity or sustained success.

I found the review to actually be relatively balanced. And it also ended on a pretty good note.

Then again, as Naoki Yoshida himself said of Final Fantasy XIV's initial state, "Well--at least it can't get any worse." And with A Realm Reborn, it looks to be getting a lot better.

Also keep in mind this is the same guy that reviewed 1.0 for gamespot. It was scathing, and he got burned pretty bad. I'd honestly have expected this article to have been a LOT worse. If he's giving a subtle nod of approval, that should be a good sign.

Expect more articles like this from Game Informer too. They've been bought out by Blizzard it seems.

Let's...not go through this again, seriously. There were enough fanboys spouting "FFXIV is getting trashed in reviews because all of the reviewers were bought out! Square refused to play their bribery game!" at the 1.0 launch that we had to deal with.

Disagree with the interviewer's logic or his opinion, fine. But this constant meme of "anyone in the gaming press that I disagree with must be on the take" is really ridiculous.

Wow, whether or not Yoshi had a legit answer or not(maybe he was just exhausted from working like a maniac!) answering quick enough on the spot, but I can name a BUNCH of stuff that this MMO will seperate from the others.

GRAPHICS, STORY, MUSIC, CHOCOBOS, MOOGLES, CID(eventually ) PRIMALS, FASHION, UNIQUE EVENTS, JOB SYSTEM/ARMORY SYSTEM!

All those and the fact that this game is not only gonna cater to hard-core players, but casual players as well! So gamestop can SUCK IT! They've always had bad customer service anyway

Unfortunately people do read reviews and will pass a judgment based on a bias opinion.
This article is pointless. Although if this spirit bond thing happens and players can't trade used gear or weapons, I will write a bad review myself. It's a huge turn off and I think people will hate it.
The concept alone makes some people not even want to try the game.
I will have to play and see what happens but... I am so against character binding.
