Account Characters Move: Is it Possible?

I originally posted this in the Technical Forum the other day, it has a few views, but no reply. So thought I'd give it a try here.

For an account that has multiple characters (say two), can one of them be individually moved (transferred) to a new account?

Friends of mine; a father and son want to play v1.0 established characters in ARR, but with different accounts (so they can both be logged on and play together. The dad is willing to fork out the extra money for two accounts); and if not at launch, sometime soon after?

I feel obligated to say that I did a brief search for this information, but decided that someone here may know the answer; no need to tell me it’s already been posted, everything has already been posted. Thanks for your indulgence.

Some mmorpgs have made this a pay service..

Its unlikely SE will do it though lol - you can buy characters and such this way, basically making legitimized RMT.

I'd be aganist it if it was put to a vote, for the above given reason.

Edit:

SE should make it so you can login to the game if you own multiple FFXIV copies attached to one SE account. But there shouldn't ever be a way to trade characters from one master account to another master account.

To be clear both father and son played on the original account’s two created characters, but of course at different times; mainly because old dad was pinching pennies and was (at the time) not willing to pay for two separate accounts.

To me this is a win win for SE, additional income; payment for both accounts would derive from the same source.

I defintely get the reasoning behind it, but I dont think SE should let you move characters out of accounts even then.

However~ Maybe I'm confused on your question or how about this:

Instead of being able to move characters from one SE account to SE account you can move characters from within on SE account to another FFXIV code in the same account.

That way as father and son there is one master account that pays the bills and then two FFXIV copies attached to the account - and you can trade characters between these attached accounts (but never to another SE master account). Edit: and of course you should also be able to login at the same time

I could see people use it for some account money trading but the possibilities are so limited that it would just be easier to RMT like normal.

I have never heard of them doing this before, I've known people who've wanted to do it but they got shot down. Your best bet is to have the father either go through phone chat or the web chat and speak with an adviser there. Usually they're really sweet and will help you in any way they can.

That being said, I really see them saying 'Nope, but you can always start a new character' D: which kinda sucks, but it shouldn't be too hard to catch up again, especially with a little help from the other.

Though it doesn't affect me in any way, I cannot see any problems with SE allowing the creation of another FFXIV account within Square Enix accounts just so things like this can happen. It could potentially be a logistical nightmare on their end, but why they would ever say no to more money is beyond reason. Too many times have the fans said, 'Take my money!' and SE has said, 'Meh.'

More accounts = more players = more subscriptions = longer life of the game = more money. Facts. And easy to read, too.

I approve, and the only reason I'm posting here is to push this topic to the front page for more views. Hopefully this gets some traction.

I think SE said this many time that your not allow to put one char to other account. If they allow this it would make it easy for people to sell accounts. Even if it within the same SE account it would allow that person to then dual box which you not allow to do in the TOS.

So ya sadly one of them have to start over which i don't think is much of a lost.
