I am incredibly anti-social, but I really love to have vast worlds to explore and MMOs for some reason. Every time I've joined an LS or bothered making friends SOME sort of drama happens so I just dropped that crap and chose to not communicate with people.

I'd love to have a group that I could endgame with (never got with a reliable one), but I have yet to find a group of endgame people that weren't SUPER elitist and willing to help people that have never run the dungeons/bosses. Or one that doesn't harass me or treat others like crap. -_-

I quit FFXI because I hated relying on mass groups of people to get ANYTHING done. It was frustrating, and in the end I always got screwed over or left behind. It ends up turning into this weird, messed up popularity contest. I enjoyed FFXIV up till the end, because even as a WHM I was able to go out and solo and get something done on my own.

In the end I just play MMOs as I would Elder Scrolls games. I play for the story, for my own personal goals(exploration and killing stuff is fun), and with my boyfriend because everyone else is crazy.
Considering the fact that co-op games(that aren't FPS) are few and far between nowadays, it's the only way we can really play games together since he lives 6 hours away. FF online games are also the only MMOs he'll play. So... it makes perfect sense to me.

Its already been told to us that there are dungeons that you can do at different lvls. Dungeons are not solo play. We've been told about FATEs and how they will auto-group us, again auto-GROUP, that is not solo play. If you're looking for something to worry about, this isn't the right topic.

    Bold made me lol.

Some people don't like the time syncs it is to wait for others. There is a lot of stand around time for sure. Then you always get the guy who didn't get their cosmo cleaner, or forgot to change their subjob or something like that where you have to wait some more.

TBH I'm ok with solo stuff for people who don't like group play, but I don't want them whining about how they can't get some awesome item because they don't like to group up. If you want something that is only obtainable by a group, then either deal with a group of people or go play an offline game by yourself.

I started playing XIV because I got tired of all RPG solo games ending quite quickly. If there was an open world RPG that kept growing and adding content and where my character could grow, I would probably have chosen that over XIV when I started.

As it is, I quite enjoyed getting to know the people I met along the way but I was never much for party play for several reasons:

    * It adds a level of pressure because you don't want to let the group down which I don't necessarily like

    * I chose not to be part of a static group because that would make the game too much like work where I was expected to show up at certain times and places to do pre-agreed things. That is the definition of a job except I wouldn't get paid.

    * The downside of that choice is that while I ended up in some very good semi-PUGs (mostly LS friends but some from shouts), a lot of the time I got really frustrated because as soon as we would get close to have everyone understand the strategy and work together someone would leave and we would have to start over and conversely I would feel bad when I had to leave.

    * Without a static, forming groups almost always took a lot of time and I am not particularly patient when it comes to waiting for others which is kind of funny since I managed to get all those luminary tools.

Hope that answers the original question Starlord. The simple fact is that if I get to a point, which I did just before the end of 1.0, where there is no more worthwhile solo content available for me, I will play a lot less and eventually quit.

I love being inside a living world, seeing the unexpected- even when playing solo, online solo is still a very different experience. You do things alone, and things together- just like in rest of life.
