While I agree that it looks bad on the outside, the lack of Facebook Likes should be taken into context.

Even the media event is small, confined mostly to people who are in the industry. They don't have a lot of time, but 25 companies will be introduced to Beta in EU... in all of the EU... The media event in the US seems even smaller.
So actually 70,000 likes seems pretty stellar given how little press (and the press it has gotten is negative much of the time) this game has gotten.
Yoshida is tired of hearing there was no flood - so he is forcing a flood through mass interviews and media releasing, then letting it all out at once.. :P
(imo there wasnt, but there will be now)

The only reason they would make the trek to San Francisco is for the mass market games media that is in the city. This is the beginning of their marketing push, now that they have something they can be proud to show off. IGN, Gamespot, 1UP, they're all in San Francisco. You won't see anything until next week though, because as it's been repeatedly stated numerous times in the last few pages (though this doesn't mean people will have read it) they are embargo'd, meaning they have to sit on their stories until a certain date, this is to prevent the information from being released to JP outlets first, and EU outlets last. We should be greatly appreciative of the fact that there even is an embargo, otherwise we'd have to be scrounging around for JP information while we wait for our US outlets to get up to speed. While I agree that it looks bad on the outside, the lack of Facebook Likes should be taken into context.

After they are done with London's portion of the media tour, that's when The green light will be up to send out all that "floodiness of goodness" through the gates. Right now they are on hold until the tour ends ( which it ends when Yoshi-P is done in London for the most part). The only reason they would make the trek to San Francisco is for the mass market games media that is in the city. So it should be coming through the pipes this week. You could be right though could wide up being early next week, but I have a feeling it will be coming this week.
While there is no way I would know anyone IRL who would have heard of this, my son plays/has played just about every recent MMO (starting with LOTRO at launch for a couple years, has tried/never liked WoW, has played Tera, Aion, GW2, etc., and currently mainly plays SWTOR). He has signed up for two upcoming Betas (the Elder Scrolls one and *WildStar or something). He never played XI or XIV. I have asked him if his mumble/vent friends have ever mentioned XIV at all, and nope. While I agree that it looks bad on the outside, the lack of Facebook Likes should be taken into context.

I have a feeling they are going to use E3 as an oulet, to show off there release version of FFXIV ARR.While there is no way I would know anyone IRL who would have heard of this, my son plays/has played just about every recent MMO (starting with LOTRO at launch for a couple years, has tried/never liked WoW, has played Tera, Aion, GW2, etc., and currently mainly plays SWTOR). Yep I've made the same argument before. I do not know anyone who plays ff14 or knows of ARR. The one person I asked if he knew of ff14 only knew of how poorly 1.0 was received. Hopefully, after the media begins releasing more information of ARR more players will begin to take notice and SE will go full throttle on advertising the game like they have with tomb raider. While I agree that it looks bad on the outside, the lack of Facebook Likes should be taken into context.

I hope so. ff14 has the potential to become very successful. They just need to get more people informed.
