devastated about the beta announcment

Well, there comes a point in everyone's life where they're met with a huge life altering event.

Today is that day or me.

As everyone is aware we've been given a date for the first phase of the beta.

My plan initially was to sit at home in a vegetative state when the beta came out and play it until level cap and enjoy the splendors that the game offered. This is now no longer a likely possibility.

In December I decided a vacation would be nice so I booked ten day trip to Maui for the wife and me. I didn't know it at the time but that set in to motion what is surely going to be one of the more devastating moments in my life. The dates just so happen to coincide with the first phase of beta... (gasp).

At first, I thought I may be able to just post-pone the trip but it seems my wife has grown keen to the idea of leaving the frigid temperatures of North Idaho for the sun soaked sands of Hawaii. She's new to FFXIV so she just doesn't understand, and I was once in her shoes so know how ignorant she is at this time in her adolescent adventurer status.

I'm hoping that those lucky adventurers that happen to have not made plans and make it into the beta can grind twice as hard to cover my lack of being there..

Of course I'm going to enjoy my time on vacation with my wife and my exaggeration in the first post was suppose to be a bit humorous and satirical.

Don't take a post like this and think that I was seriously thinking about postponing a much needed vacation.

Yes I'm upset I wont be able to play before I go, upset enough to make a joke post about it and that's it.

It's the thought that counts. I bought the collector's edition for XIV 1.0 but wasn't able to start until a week AFTER the initial launch day due to unforeseen technical difficulties (tigerdirect.com lied about a motherboard, which we didn't figure out until later). I was very stressed about it, because I'd just spent about $1000 on a new computer and the CE. I'd be pretty bummed by your ill fated coincidence, too, but at least you know what's delaying your return to Eorzea.

By the way, your Hyur looks awesome. We need more beardlanders to make us pretty ones prettier.

I'd choose a bigger beard if I could... hopefully the Beta will introduce more "flavor-saver" facial hair for me to play with.

Seeing as you are here... Just posted to let you know, beta invites are out... even though you can't play logging into the forum won't kill you, it will keep you informed...
