devastated about the beta announcment

Well, there comes a point in everyone's life where they're met with a huge life altering event.

Today is that day or me.

As everyone is aware we've been given a date for the first phase of the beta.

My plan initially was to sit at home in a vegetative state when the beta came out and play it until level cap and enjoy the splendors that the game offered. This is now no longer a likely possibility.

In December I decided a vacation would be nice so I booked ten day trip to Maui for the wife and me. I didn't know it at the time but that set in to motion what is surely going to be one of the more devastating moments in my life. The dates just so happen to coincide with the first phase of beta... (gasp).

At first, I thought I may be able to just post-pone the trip but it seems my wife has grown keen to the idea of leaving the frigid temperatures of North Idaho for the sun soaked sands of Hawaii. She's new to FFXIV so she just doesn't understand, and I was once in her shoes so know how ignorant she is at this time in her adolescent adventurer status.

I'm hoping that those lucky adventurers that happen to have not made plans and make it into the beta can grind twice as hard to cover my lack of being there..

Of course I'm going to enjoy my time on vacation with my wife and my exaggeration in the first post was suppose to be a bit humorous and satirical.

Don't take a post like this and think that I was seriously thinking about postponing a much needed vacation.

Yes I'm upset I wont be able to play before I go, upset enough to make a joke post about it and that's it.

At least this will be time well spent on a tropical paradise with your loved one. As for myself, I barely avoided having to spend my time in travels too, but not such a joyful one, no, it would be spent days after days within an oil rig far within the pacific sea.

Enjoy the bright side of it all, it could certainly be worse.

I was so excited to start Beta considering I was left bawling at the altar by Alpha... but now I've being whisked away by my mother to tropical Honduras to pretend that the Toucans in her backyard are the baby chocobos...

Maybe the gorgeous landscapes and the delightful people will keep my mind off it... ; ; I'm so sad! I wanted to play Beta Phase one and claim my rightful spot on my Legacy throne... but alas... It's almost like I never had Legacy at all...

You wouldn't be able to do this anyways, so you're not going to miss much. Phase 1 is going to be up and down.

During phase 1, the game will only be available for a few hours on specific days, but availability will be increased in subsequent phases. A more detailed testing schedule will be posted on the Beta Tester Forum.

Was just about to say... buy a laptop and play at night when she is sleeping. Or in the evening when you all aren't doing much.
