the screenshot is from the early ps3 footage they showed at TGS, and there was also dev commentary about how the youtube encoding wasn't right and resulted in even worse quality

I've said before, if fishing turns out to be absolutely amazing and not completely boring, I'll be the the first to make a thread stating how wrong I was. I figure it's the least I can do for being the number one pessimistic Fishing... person.

HEY EVERYBODY! BOBBYGUNZ DOESN'T APPROVE OF SOMETHING! LET'S ALERT KOTAKU OF THIS BREAKING NEWS!!!I don't think someone could fairly say that's at the same level as FFXIV 1.0, but it does seem like an improvement to the other picture you posted. The hairstyle is interesting too. I wonder what the model will look like in a place with actual lighting though. FFXIV: ARR doesn't have a very flattering lighting system and things often look dull (like in the new picture) or way too oversatured (like in the old picture).
You don't think someone can fairly say it's at the same level, but you can say that it's not as good? Get off your high horse, mister!
I don't see a difference.OMG Praise the lord we have Skin tone again! The first time they showed footage of ARR, despite knowing it was unfinished, I was so worried we would be getting a Dramticly Different Character Art Style.
So happy to see things have gotten back to normal and that we didn't have to sacrifice High Quality Character Models for performance enhancements.
I don't think the beta will have any graphical improvements. Just more content. The lighting effects are fine. Shadows are simpler but they are used much more diversely.

The only difference i see is ones in a dark cave and the others in midday sun, shadows also seem to be more uniform than the other, the character models still look the same.

It was still an overreaction to something they also stated was incomplete. I do recall them commenting about this video being older footage, they still hadn't added in textures or shadows. But that didn't and still doesn't stop people from hearing what they want to hear and then making a mountain out of a mole hill. GRASS! lolPeople were freaking out because it was stated by SE they've toned graphics down in order to make playability better, which means when people were freaking out they were rightfully so because to those who ran 1.0 past SNES mode immediately seen a difference even from the 1.0 alpha graphical style.
EDIT: Looks like we have some people suffering from Beta Fever in here. This PSA is just the thing for you!
