Hm, I never saw anything wrong with skin tone to begin with. (shrug)

I dunno you're comparing an image where one is under a shadow cast and other in open sunlight...
Need to check images from same spot to compare the actual different imo. Pretty sure the lighting is better in beta but just want to compare the images from same spot.
Yeah, there aren't really a lot of screens, but when you watch the Alpha Video the Character in that picture looks practically cell shaded through the majority of the trailer. Glad to see we're back to FFXIV level Quality though.
My post in no way suggest I feel I over reacted. I still feel that everyone who was concerned was justifiably concerned.
Those people who just ignore things because it's "in development" or "just alpha" are under reacting. Everything in the game that these people do not like will be 100% their own fault. They should have spoken up when they had the chance. Regardless of whether or not things were "just alpha".
then we disagree, because many of us don't feel two dozen "early early early data from 8 months prior to launch doesn't look good enough, the sky is falling" falls under the umbrella of normal, 'justifiable concern'
normal, legitimate concern would look more like "hey, this looks a little rough/early. i'm sure it's just lacking polish because it's alpha, right? if a dev could answer that would be cool, but if not- i'm sure it's nothing to be worried about unless it hasn't changed by Beta 3"
not to mention- i could be wrong but i'm at least fairly sure the first picture you posted was an early ps3 version screen. assuming that's the case (and as i've said- it may not be), it would be even more silly to expect it to be 100% as graphically lush as the PC version

Sorry. I was distracted by highlander boobs. What were we talking about again?
Wait, so you're telling me all that bitching and moaning was over nothing?!OMG Praise the lord we have Skin tone again! The first time they showed footage of ARR, despite knowing it was unfinished, I was so worried we would be getting a Dramticly Different Character Art Style.

Beta:
So happy to see things have gotten back to normal and that we didn't have to sacrifice High Quality Character Models for performance enhancements.
COLOR ME SURPRISED!

I don't think someone could fairly say that's at the same level as FFXIV 1.0, but it does seem like an improvement to the other picture you posted. The hairstyle is interesting too. I wonder what the model will look like in a place with actual lighting though. FFXIV: ARR doesn't have a very flattering lighting system and things often look dull (like in the new picture) or way too oversatured (like in the old picture).
I think judging her by her racial clothes she is a female roegadyn.
