I play this game called "Life". It's pretty terrible... Just look at these grass graphics... so fake...

Cedri, that grass is so fake. Look at the polies and texture on that..
lol
Oh and not to mention the clouds, my lord is that 1991? >.>
Actually clouds are pretty easy to get to look good, they are just big ass moving pictures lol
Not to mention THEY NEVER UPDATE THE SERVERS! Though the permadeath feature is kind of cool.
Lol you are on a roll XD - never update their servers.. XD
I shared it with my wife "Real life doesnt update its servers", she gave me this face o_O
Since we are talking about grass here though, in that photo is a perfect example of the flow of grass. While its technically difficult for hardware to do exactly that its entirely possible to do it on smaller scales. Not only that one MMO I linked does this, which may or may not be the best example but it is one with some of the technical aspects for flora/funa in those screenshots. GW2 even decided to add physics to theirs.
I'm not even asking for next gen, I'm just asking for -this- gen. Even Shiobans example is better looking in some cases :/ Because the transparent effect helps blend it in to have a natural effect (as well as making the little sharp pixel edges less obvious).
if they had more real looking grass it may lag people with low end PC. So i guess once DX11 come up they can add something that make the grass better. But by doing so you lose a lot of FPS just like the way you do when shadows are on or DOF.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together Autographed By "Akihiko Yoshida Tarot Card Sweepstakes Winner
Yea you keep saying my dream lol
A elite PC patch in the future, high res, DX10/11 support, extended graphic options. It doesnt even need to happen all at once.
I suspect more then DX will come from that update anyways because Yoshida called it a graphic milestone and said DX10/11 will be updated then too, so without delaying game release but also getting confirmed better quality - its a definitely my desire in that.
Please someone tell me this guy is kidding?! Alpha was a stress test man... That was not 100% it was for the servers and.... nvm why bother another one of these threads from people that just started playing and have not read aaaaaaaanything will pop up again soon enough but seriously you post those horrible SS of anoth.... nvm again....I'll just wait for another one of these to pop up and face palm my way to P1...
Turn the up the graphics to see the grass better, not all of the game looks better mind you, like ARR character models are way better
In the first image, ARR, the grass is more like a cluster of random plants that make a very in-cohesive image. Also the level of detail on those plants is low.
In the third and following images, Archeage (its in closed beta at the moment), the grass is cohesive to the ground and is also of better detail.
Archeage has a lot of bugs still (flickers worse then a candle on a windy day) but I hope people can see the graphic differences I'm talking about.
They are some what present in GW2, and commonly in FPS and S(FP)RPGs like skyrim.
I hope people can both see and agree with me that ARR could use some better flora.
Unless its something in beta thats changed since alpha screen shots, I'll be bringing it up - hopefully I'm not alone when I ask Yoshida to put it on the to do list of graphic updates. That can be in the future like the graphic mile stone coming with DX11, but I hope they upgrade it because its not good, its 2005 good.
TL;DR, ARR grass still sucks.
You picked a horrible grass shotlol
But actually I think it makes good example here if you had transparent short grass it would blend in nicely - its actually similar to the first page I have that third image with the grass is fairly short and blends in.

I purposefully picked the shot I did because Cedri used the "Life" card lol
Most grass pics on google are enhanced to look prettier by manipulating the color to look more vibrant.
