I remember thinking like that.... then I got FFXIII, never again.I remember when i was younger. You didnt hear about games in advance, you found out when it hit the shelves. there was no advertizing, they were just games after all. You didnt have an opportunity to be in contact with anyone who worked on the games to voice an opinion about anything.
kids these days... seem so entitled...
I say no to post launch testing.
But Yoshi P has shown a willingness to delay things if necessary for a better product. The lack of information now does not necessarily mean that we're on track for another 1.0, but I would rather they extend Beta testing rather than have them patch in things like PvP and housing, important features that should be in there at launch.
I think the plan was to release more info during Yoshi tour; before that, just teasers.
But we'll have to wait and see
We might see gameplay from other classes, from his tour. Chocobo pets and all that; To show people what to expect for the game; Create some hype.
This is over simplified. Tweaks and testing from phase 1 extend all the way into phase 3. Just because phase 1 ends doesn't mean that the devs can slap their hands together and say "OK done with Grid and it's classes time to start on the rest!" People will still find bugs and exploits in later stages, but with less time to fix them on top of testing other features of the game. They'll have to test and retest all the classes at the same time regardless.
In the end, if there are too many bugs, if some features aren't thoroughly tested by the projected launch time then launch should be delayed. If features aren't ready to be tested until phase 4 and they need more time for it to cook, launch should be delayed. FFXIV already has a stigma attached to it. Some folk will always brand this game as a failure. But that doesn't mean that we should give them a reason to!
I don't think that neither PvP or housing are important features ^^I say no to post launch testing.

I mean housing? really? i couldn't care less...it's just vanity thing, and apparently absurdly expensive; So it's just a thing that some LS could try out together.
There wasn't any pvp in 1.0, and no one complained about it...or at least not many, so i don't see any issue with it not being there for the launch of ARR; Though it wouldn't hurt if they at least had coliseum, for some duels.
I think most people will be to busy with other things, than give pvp anything more than passing glance.
I think Combat Chocobos would be a better feature to have at launch; give combat a fun twist. Multiple instances, FATEs, for people to do. Some primal fights; and you're set for a while, until they release Crystal Tower, and other things.
Maybe Chocobo raising, for some non-combat content.
How are you supposed to have Combat Chocobo features at launch without housing to raise them? Housing is connected to Free Companies and the Mail system too. It is important!I don't think that neither PvP or housing are important features ^^

Your opinion on PvP is your own. But I've already talked to a few people who actually avoided FFXIV for the lack of PvP. o.O So of course you're not going to hear a lot of clamoring for PvP. If they like PvP, why would they be playing a game that doesn't have it?
I think people expected too much from the beginning. A lot of the features they mentioned were not entirely intended to be totally completed at launch. Be thankful you are even getting Free Companies at launch as if I remember correctly, Yoshi said in one of the very early letters (when he described Free companies in a bit more detail) that they won't be ready at launch.. (or from what I remember)..
Think of 2.0 as a re-release of 1.0 with some extra content, reworked game mechanics and reworked graphic engine. I think the checklist for a lot of people in here, along with their expectations on the release is "too damn high".
Save you final comments for beta. If you hate it, then that's when you can voice it. Complaining about it now won't get you any more information then you have access to already.
I'm quite sure they got it covered; included in Roadmap. We're already looking at up to 5 months of beta, and i think that's worst case scenario, with many bugs to fix etc included. They know very well that if they need to delay game longer than that, people gonna whine about it.In the end, if there are too many bugs, if some features aren't thoroughly tested by the projected launch time then launch should be delayed. Personally i'm not worried at all; from what i've seen of alpha, it was already miles better than 1.0It's only gotten better, and will only get better still. Only thing that would worry me is if someone finds and use dupe exploits or such in phase 4. But as long as it's resolved during beta, it's all good. Any minor stuff like terrain bugs, skill balance, shouldn't delay release.
Further, have you seen the number of people playing Minecraft?! I likely won't spend much time working on my house, but don't dismiss vanity elements, there are entire MMOs devoted to vanity content that have more subscribers than FFXIV.
would you have to actually raise a chocobo to make it a combat chocobo? or just use the one you have from 1.0, and...train it...at class guild? I can see how chocobo raising is tied to housing; but you might as well buy a trained lv1 WHM chocobo or whatever...How are you supposed to have Combat Chocobo features at launch without housing to raise them? Housing is connected to Free Companies and the Mail system too. It is important!

I think FC would work quite well without housing...like it did in 1.0; i'm not against it though...just sayingDon't see how it's *important* to FC or mail.
If i was interested in PvP games, there's many other games, i'd choose before FF14...even if it had pvp at launch.
I don't think the combat system in ARR is exciting for a pvp setting...with GCD etc.
If they can't find other reasons to play ARR than pvp, then it's probably not a game for them, pvp or not.
I would like to see a FF game that plays like Devil May Cry, but that doesn't mean i'd avoid FFT, cause the lack of fast paced combat...
