    that's because in 1.0 you could choose both your starting class and your city. where ass in 2.0 your city will be the 1 that hass the guild of your class, so you'll be LL only if you choose Archanist or MRD (or the potential MSK) f you want ul'dah you'll have to choose GLA PUG and THM and if you want grid you'll have to choose CNJ LNC or ARC

    As for the sub classes, they never had much to do with the main class, THM has PUG as a sub class so it can have a cure that is not white magic bassed. At least that's how i took it, both classes were to give the main job things that it didn't have

    Only until you unlock the armory system and then you can just grab whatever like in 1.0 I'd think, you can buy all the starting weapons from the people standing next to the starting zone / Inn.


    It wouldn't be that bad to have a small offset in classes per city (a small offset).


    Although classes added that do not have supporting lore I hope get a new zone or at least an intro quest for acquisition and logical transitional.


    Like Musketeer is already supported in Lore so no problem adding him whenever to Limsa, but that I know of Samurai / Katana isnt supported at all and should get a new zone or at least a transisition phase into the cities so the skill isnt learned over night.

    It would be cool, I'm all for another ranged attack class. To me musketeer would branch into Corsair quite nicely. Another ranged job would be great, a debuff job would be a nice alternative to a the bard class. I would prefer something like Ranger from 11 that was just pure dd, but the way they did bard this time around isn't so bad. DD for 2 mins, cast a few buffs, and then go back to dd.

    I wish we'd get a class like thief/rouge that would transition into something like Ninja. I wonder how wary they are about a ninja class. In 11 the class completely redefined the game and took it down a road they didn't see coming. No one thought there would be blink tankers and that everyone would sub nin so they could dual wield. I'm excited for the possibilities of any new job besides the one we know about already.

    Yes yoshida also said during one of those live letters that classes will start off in the city the guild is located in. Also something about "A Gladiator starting off in gridania would be lost and have no guidence"

    That's the quote I'd like to see. I take Bayohne's post to mean that the only classes available will be the ones with guilds, so players can test the available guild quests.

    Edit: Ah, so. Well, doesn't seem like a terrible idea. Might get some people to actually play in Gridania (but I doubt it).

    In 1.0 the choose between starter class (not only the battle classes) and starter city was separated.
    But in ARR you only choose your starter battle class and the starter city is tied to the class you choose.

    Gridania get ARC, LNC and CNJ
    Ul'dah get PGL, GLD and THM
    And Limsa would only get MRD and ACN

    Don't forget that in 1.0 you could start as a Disciple of Hand or Land, which Limsa Lominsa had 4 guilds of while the other cities only had 3 of them. Back then, all the Disciplines were considered equally playable. That's how it worked out that Limsa Lominsa only needed two combat guilds.

    But now that gatherers and crafters cannot be starting classes, and are now NOT considered equally playable, a third combat class needs to be available in Limsa Lominsa to balance things out.

    Uldah has 3 crafting guilds and 1 gathering guild as well. Weaver, Alchemist, Goldsmith, Mining. Limsa has Blacksmith, Armorer, Culinarian, Fishing. Gridania is the one with the least with Carpenter, Leatherworker and botanist.

    For battle classes, gridania and uldah both had 3 while limsa had 1, now going to be 2. It will have 3...... someday. Any new class/job after will most likely have to come from new cities.

    I wonder if they will make us do a quest line or something to unlock musketeer and any other new classes down the line, since they wont be launch classes.
