    I never played drg in ffxiv, so I don't know the story behind it and this might be a stupid question. Did they ever link it to anything dragon related? Seems like abilities along those lines would be another thing that separates it from other dd's.

    quite a lot actually yes
    Dragoons are dragon slayers, they exist to eventually kill Nidhogg who wreaked havoc in Ishgard.
    something like that, if i remember correctly.
    Which is why i'd wanna see jobs have their own passives. Such as damage bonus vs dragons for DRG for example.
