    But I thought you were saying ranged attackers shouldn't have as high damage output as melee attackers.

    I actually dont remember any major fights where Arc/brd were immune from harm. Ifrit you had to move out of cracks and plumes (but who uses arc/brd for that fight, i kno). Moogle you got randomly targeted for petrify and aim shot, and sometimes have to run away from fat moogle. Garuda the plumes can get you, as well as all the other ranged in your party. Darnus being too far meant death.

    Because every fight seems to have their own way to get ranged killed before the melee, ranged attackers fulfilling the 'DD' role shouldn't have any less power than their melee counterparts.

    Oh sorry, I misunderstood you.

    That's what I think it should be like, but in 2.0, with the new TP system, it gives a lot more room for melee jobs to pull away from BRD and (possibly) BLM damage. That leaves a window for another ranged job to fill the gap, one I think RNG could fill, to possibly match melee output. I think ranged classes should suffer slightly in the damage department since they're relatively safe from damage on the whole, but I really wouldn't care too much if they were similar.

    I mainly dont think bard should have had the bow as a main weapon, because their intended role was different and not truely DD. I would have rather they had musical instruments and attacked with waves of harmful song when they didn't have to buff anyone. like Edwin from FFIV. Thats a bard right there.

    And then when you think of a Ranger only being able to use a Crossbow and not a longbow, I think why? Ranger should be good with all bow'd weaponry. But then the longbow is locked to bard so that makes it relativly impossible unless they change the system.

    Ah I see. I kinda agree... I'm worried that they'll end up changing it too much for 2.0 though, I thought it had a nice balance. But yeah, I'd prefer it if they had songs that would have a continuous effect while they were singing or w/e (eg, Regen until another move was performed) but then that'd make the bow even more redundant =/ It does seem a bit wasted now...

    I agree Reika. BRD seemed a little weird to me in FFXIV. ARC seems more like it should lead to RNG or something along those lines. Making ARC into BRD seemed a little forced and not true to the class. It's one reason I hope they have multiple jobs spawn from classes.
