    I agree it's annoying. But the idea is that it will help the economy. If you want upgraded tools, you need to buy them -- or at least parts for them -- from someone else, who's a higher level than you. That gives higher level players something to make that other people will buy.

    So the idea is to make it impossible for you to make your own level-appropriate gear. Which, in a way, is a bummer. But it helps take money out of the economy through taxes, which helps fight inflation.

    That still doesn't make any sense.

    You already do have to buy stuff from other people - mats to make the parts, and parts made by other crafters of a different job.

    If you're gonna make your own stuff, you're gonna make it yourself anyway. Having the axe head synth be 3 levels higher than the finished axe is no different than making the finished axe be 3 levels higher, anyway.

    The devs are fully capable of implementing a system that is not annoying and makes economic sense at the same time.
