That looks to be a real time rendered cut scene. Is there any videos of the interface with someone actually playing?

Judging from their YT page at the moment. They have no live PvP gameplay footage at this time. Just their cinematic, the introduction of what they worked on so far (doesn't count as gameplay) and a few 30 second dev Q&A vids...

Yoshi-P really spoils us doesn't he? It's like the guys at Zenimax Online aren't even trying when you compare the two.

Honestly, you have every right to be cautious of Elder Scrolls, it looks like either a gigantic hit or miss. For any MMO I only have a general interest in, I wait a few months to see what becomes of it. MMO's always get large numbers at release, but within two months or so, they always dramatically decrease. Lately this has led to a trend of things, like SWTOR and TERA going free to play. Why spend 50 bucks when the game will be potentially free?

I learned that from Star Wars. That was a day one purchase for me. Only a week after being 50, I quit due to boredom and overwhelmingly/tedious dailies. I also got fed up with going through the cut scenes when repeating instanced dungeons. I suppose many agreed with me and why Star Wars got to a F2P state. It is sad that it's strongest feature also became one of it's biggest flaws.

So from there on, I always decided to wait a while to see how things develop. Beta alone doesn't tell me how the game will be in the long run. With so many MMO's coming out, I feel like their quality is decreasing over time due to everyone (experienced or not), trying to get into the market that can be very difficult to profit on unless you have a major IP backing you up (Even then that is hard).

In short, the MMO market is tough. It is be the best you can be, or go F2P.

I'm definitely gonna keep an eye on TESO's development, though I hope they can give more substantial information out rather than just the occasional 30 second Q&A video. I really want this game to be the best it can be rather than just another MMO to grab more cash from people.

    and this is alpha footage.
i wonder if ARR can keep up with that.
I watched the entire video just because I haven't really seen anything on TESO yet, but one thing irked me in the video when they were talking about how players would be entirely customizable in playstyle. That got me thinking even with Oblivion or Skyrims type of leveling system I can see this turning into "Must have X weapon level, X skills, X Armor or GTFO" much like with FFXI. I know this happens with all MMO's but when it comes to the ability to change playstyles on a whim, this will be a min/maxer heaven.

I agree it going to end up going that way. You have A,B,C level to X,Y,Z? no? ok GTFO then.

from the video Phe post i not sure if it's the art style they use in TESO but to me the game look like really bad look wise.

I don't know, I think the Elder Scroll serie would do better with a good co-op.
I am following TESO, but I have my doubts if they can meet the expectation.

We will see, I doubt I would leave ARR for TESO, I don't know, I fell in love with ARR, how long that love last I don't know, for me it depends mostly on the community.

I want to feel at home, only 2 MMORPGs I played have gotten me that feeling, the first was UO en the second was FFXI.
I think ARR could be my 3th home.
If TESO could somehow import Skyrim and just make it Online I think they would have a winner. It however does not seem to be the approach they are taking.

Not only that but, it looks like they are trying to inject MMO traditions, Trinity etc so that TESO fits the typical MMO mold.

I would prefer if you got perks just like the singleplayer game and could just make your character however you see fit. There is no limit to what you can do as a character progression wise because you are not restricted by keeping within a class parameter.

SWG was like this before Pre-NGE and even towards the end they allowed you to respec anytime as long as you paid to do it. As long as you earned the skill to re-spec to you could respec to whatever you wanted. It was that way for only a few months before they did the NGE and made everything into 8 different classes.

I know FFXIV is all about the Classes, so this method did not work out for them. FFXIV 1.0 was exactly this in a way. Aside from having an actual skill tree. Alas, and I agree, nobody liked how you could not tell who was the Tank, DD or Healer. There wasn't any armor that looked FF classes that everybody wanted. It seems adding jobs saved XIV in a way along with a multitude of other things.

That's scripted and there's very little diversity of models and textures on screen, so while it looks impressive, it's really nothing special... Take any zone from ARR, add 5 different character models with about 4 different sets of armour, and you'll be able to have as many characters on-screen as well.

That said, I'm a DAoC fan, I thoroughly enjoyed that game for many years, and we had massive RvR battles there with overall good performance. The only issues (after the initial few months) were relic keep battles of 200 vs 200 PC's and some 40-50 NPC guards

If TESO will be anything like DAoC I'll play it, but I won't drop ARR for it. Of course, something like DAoC wouldn't go down well with the new, instant-gratification MMO crowd that want rewards for every step they take in an MMO
