1.0 Buddy pass works for ARR?

So i been looking around on the lodestone and have only seen this question brought up once but it was never answered.

Will the buddy passes that came along with FFXIV 1.0 work for a full retail download for the game like it did in 1.0 but for FFXIV: ARR? Just wondering because I have 2 left and when ARR comes out I have 1 friend that is thinking about looking into it.

I not sure i think once ARR is back up you be allow to use them again. Not 100% on that seeing how SE payed 16$ for every copy of ffxiv to be destroyed,

I think he would have had to use it prior. I'm almost certain those passes won't work because it was set for FFXIV not FFXIV: ARR plus they updated the payment system a lot which that was most likely a change. So I'm afraid your friend is likely out of luck and will have to buy to try or just do open beta.

I don't see why it wouldn't work - its just a ffxiv registration code like any other.

Its not like all 1.0 reg codes will all of a sudden become invalid. If you bought 1.0 and its sitting on the shelf it will automatically turn into 2.0 - activated or not.

I thought you would only get that download link for ARR if you were already registered/played before/currently playing? I mean I could be wrong, usually am, but I thought something like that was mentioned before.

I would imagine it will not work, as I look at ff4 ARR as a different game, to me ff14 and ff14 ARR are two complete different games. But that is just my thoughts on the subject.

Interesting thread, I would really like to know if you can still use old buddy passes for ARR.

Hopefully we will get an official statement on that.

I was wondering this too, as I still have an unused one that came with my 1.0 CE box, and I was thinking of giving it to a friend if it would work with 2.0. Ah well, no harm done if not.

I still have 3 (!) unopened FFXIV standard editions (What can I say.. I'm a fan ) for people that are interested in the game. Do you think these codes will work?

If I recall they said it wouldn't work as it's giving away a free copy of FFXIV. They may have some with 2.0's CE but the 1.0 codes definitely wouldn't carry over like that.

The codes from the initial purchases (games itself) may work, but the buddy codes were on a different system much like the code to register for PS3 beta from XIII copies, which were able to expire.
