NA / EU / JP server=No transfer

Let me take a stab at this confusion. I guess some of us need really specific language. So : New players can join an old player server ( which I'm assuming is a new server in terms of the machine itself not an old version 1 box) if there is room again; why wouldn't there be room right! It only makes sense that old players can join new (machine wise) old player servers from the beginning and not new all new player server(machine, box etc) and not be stuck in japan. That is what I am reading. I hope that helps more than it confuses!

Your post is a hot mess. I'm sorry. Plus, we know what we know from SE and I don't think we're confused. We don't need clarification on the Dev post in this thread. We just need to know more than is in that post.

I think my play enjoyment priorities may be different from many, as mine are Friends/Community/LS/FC >>> (being light years more important than) >>> imagined latency/possible language barriers/the idea that your server location will contribute to your awesome/elite-ness somehow.

That being said, this is what I believe (i.e. the following is my opinion only) will happen at launch when they flip the switch and turn on the game from day one:

1. The servers for ALL 10 existing Worlds (Aegis through Sargatanas, alphabetically, which names will remain the same) will be located in Japan. I believe this because SE will not want to shock their JP players by them logging into a London or NY based server and being unable to move for an undetermined amount of time. I am an American and I live in Florida. I played XI for years and years. I believe SE considers the convenience of the JP population over others. I have no problem with this.

2. That existing characters will automatically be logged into the world which they were previously on, and will remain on that word until server changes become allowed. A choice of servers will not be available for existing characters.

3. The "fresh new worlds" will be equally spread among the regions, with perhaps less in Japan, since already 10 are there. Any new character can be created on them. Creation of any new character will prompt a World choice of every possible world, both old and new.

4. [The already confirmed information that old characters cannot be moved to new worlds (until later when server change option opens up); but that new characters can be created on any world, so long as that world is not "full".]

I think what we all want is a confirmation and/or correction of Numbers 1, 2 and 3.

TL;DR - Every person here has an opinion of what's going to happen with our existing characters on Day 1, but what we really want is a clear, definite and official statement so we can stop guessing and KNOW.

If they don't allow us NA,EU to go to a NA,EU world that going to piss of a lot of players.

A simple thing they could so is make 8+ NA worlds 8+ EU worlds set 5 of them for new players only and 3+ for us old players.I don't see how that so hard to do vs what you saying seem like a big waste of time when this is a better and simple fix not everyone want to be stuck in a JP too they allow us to move. When they could easy make a few set worlds being set in NA,EU and allow us old 1.0 chars in it.

I agree the Dev team always answer a question and end up them answering two more question. The Dev team really need to get a straight definite answer before posting something that make no sense.

Something that we know for sure and straight to the point.

The only variable in my post (imo only) is that 1.0 chars may be able to choose from existing worlds at start (if you are Ridill you can log straight in and move to Balmung, etc.). Other than that, I just don't think any of the existing worlds will be changed to non-JP server location, and yes, (IMO) all 1.0 chars will have to initially go to their original world/server. It's just what I believe will happen. I could certainly be wrong. I just want them to tell us! lol

EDIT: In addition, if there will be a bunch of server choice options for old 1.0 chars, I want to know every detail (server names, server regions, if old server names are changing, if so what new server names correspond to old server names) of those choices well in advance so returning 1.0 chars have time to plan accordingly.

ya that what i want to know also but it seem SE can never give a straight answer that make sense. I think what we want to know is if we allow to switch to a NA,EU or JP base world from day 1 if they give us that information. That be more then enough info for now too they tell us more.

There is one more thing that is bugin me with the "transfer or migrate your character later".Its about free company.I guess that those guild or company are gonna work like Linkshell. That means if you move to a new server with your friends, you will have to restart your free company. Im not really sure on how Free company are gonna work, but if there some sort of reward for doing stuff with that guild and the reward are getting better the more quest you do with this company. The idea of merging later instead of at ARR launch might be disapointing us if we are stuck on JP server.

I guess your post is a mess as well Jilly since people are still confused. If you read my carefully maybe you will get what I'm saying. Although I don't mind being stuck in Japan if the servers are new regardless if you are a new or old player. It only makes sense that people would want to move to the region that is closest to them. Now, I can't find where I read that Yoshi had SE make new better servers in order to be done once and for all with the 1.0 servers. My understanding is that the 1.0 servers will no longer be used. When they say "Old player" server they are talking about the player not the machice which is supposed to be new, better and able to handle large numbers of players, up to 1000 in one area. That's what the Alpha test was all about.

That's what you gonna need if you implement regional datacenter. Can't just tell ppl that are stuck on a datacenter "that's too bad". If they implement that they have todo it smart. If ppl gonna be stuck on a datacenter they not belong to you gonna get massive bad press again.
