Yes thats the question SE should answer. In same time if the old server are going to be based JP,NA or EU they should let us know wich one will be on what. Lets hope your question wont be lost. The question that never gets answered that people want an answer to is. Will the old servers be split up between Na Jp Eu datacenters? If so will we be able to move a character from one old server to another old server. Or is it the case all old servers will be based in Japan, the new player servers will be Na Eu datacenter and thus have a waiting period for existing characters to move there.

The real question is PinkamenaDiane's.
Your question is subsidiary, we can worry about which server is where and how to deal with that later.
Let's first know what's gonna happen: will we have localized server for "old characters" and localized server for new characters ? Or will we have localized server for new characters, the old ones being stuck on japanese server for a given period of time. (Let's avoid speaking of "players" as it's not relevant anymore, every new characters will have the same rules)

The actual question is
Why wouldn't they?
All degrees of common sense would indicate that they would split the old servers between regions. I swear to god this is like the only forum I know of where people purposefully go counter to common sense.

Do you mean the Japanese players who were told, along with everyone else, that this will be mainly a European players' server?
There are benefits and drawbacks to any plan SE comes up with, but keeping existing servers where they are doesn't increase network latency for anyone. I assume Japanese players see perhaps 30ms, and NA around 180ms. Europe's latency to Japan was much higher. This was confirmed by SE. Perhaps Ragnarok was one step towards fixing that problem.
Because SE loves surprises ? And we'be been surpised with SE.
We just want to be sure that there is not a new surprise here, the kind of surprise we would not like ! That's all !
If you prefer, these questions are more a request of confirmation of common sense then real questions. It would please you more like this ?![]()

I am still really confused about the server situation.
All legacy players will be stuck on a server located in Japan and cannot move for an undetermined and probably extensive amount of time? When transferring become available, will there be a guarantee that people can move en masse to the server location that better suites their needs? It'd be rather bad if a large free company of could not move all their member to the same server.
How long will legacy members have to wait? It'll be harder to maintain groups of people transferring together the longer the wait. I also don't want my game play still be hindered by distance lag for an extended period of time by being on a server far away when a closer one is available. But I don't feel like I should have to throw away 2 years of work on a character for that.
Can't there be at least 1 world open to legacy players per region at launch?
Can someone post a link to a statement by anyone at SE that the current servers, as named, will exist in ARR? Or that people who were on 1.x server Y will be forced onto ARR server Y? Or that all 1.x servers and their previous names and their entire "data snapshot day" playerbase, exactly matching that day, will all be kept in Japan?
I have a lot of speculation, but I don't intend to devolve this into faith in the unseen.
That is the point, Romikemi. We do not have any information about this. Nothing.

I think my play enjoyment priorities may be different from many, as mine are Friends/Community/LS/FC >>> (being light years more important than) >>> imagined latency/possible language barriers/the idea that your server location will contribute to your awesome/elite-ness somehow.
That being said, this is what I believe (i.e. the following is my opinion only) will happen at launch when they flip the switch and turn on the game from day one:
1. The servers for ALL 10 existing Worlds (Aegis through Sargatanas, alphabetically, which names will remain the same) will be located in Japan. I believe this because SE will not want to shock their JP players by them logging into a London or NY based server and being unable to move for an undetermined amount of time. I am an American and I live in Florida. I played XI for years and years. I believe SE considers the convenience of the JP population over others. I have no problem with this.
2. That existing characters will automatically be logged into the world which they were previously on, and will remain on that word until server changes become allowed. A choice of servers will not be available for existing characters.
3. The "fresh new worlds" will be equally spread among the regions, with perhaps less in Japan, since already 10 are there. Any new character can be created on them. Creation of any new character will prompt a World choice of every possible world, both old and new.
4. [The already confirmed information that old characters cannot be moved to new worlds (until later when server change option opens up); but that new characters can be created on any world, so long as that world is not "full".]
I think what we all want is a confirmation and/or correction of Numbers 1, 2 and 3.
TL;DR - Every person here has an opinion of what's going to happen with our existing characters on Day 1, but what we really want is a clear, definite and official statement so we can stop guessing and KNOW.
