i don't think it's a good idea to interrupt spellcasting while moving.
Oh wow.. A necro'd thread that still pertained to the direction of the game now.what a perfect flame post without actually playing it (its from 2011) ;X and so many false assumptions
FFXI -> instanced raids and dungeons as well, some openworld dungeons.
the same for A Realm Reborn -> openworld dungeons still going to be there (at EVERY level), instanced raids and dungeons
eh...
FFXI-> auto attack
anything to say more? X.X
With Guildleves in 1.0. you could do maximum level on your own.
and who the hell had to dig out (necro post) this necro thread?!
you didnt get anything. and you are posting in 2013.. not in 2011..
Yeah I don't think they should clone XI, but XI really have some good elements in it that could bring over to XIV.That's the problem. It's fans of FFXI who are most likely to care about this game in the first place. Nobody has a chance of ripping off a significant chunk of WoW's casual market for any extensive period of time. FFXIV's best chance was to appeal to those who enjoyed the first MMO. That doesn't mean they have to clone XI, but going the opposite direction has proven to be a complete disaster.
Appealing to as wide of an audience as possible just involves appealing to the lowest common denominator and, unless you are the lowest common denominator, this only serves to line the pockets of the publisher/developers. If they want to make a quality game, they're better off figuring out who their niche market is (ie, fans of their previous FF mmo - likely the only ones who will care enough to give it a second try) and getting them to come back to the game first.
And here lies the problem.
Isn't it strange that MMORPGs have seemingly become less attractive and boring ever since the 'wider audience/casual' bandwagon? Deny it all you want, but I find it hard to believe this would even close to being as popular as Guild Wars 2... maybe it might be like Star Wars: The Old Republic 3-4 months after release.
I realise now that a lot of people on this forum really don't leave this forum.. at all. Proof being they really believe they'll attract WoW players, or players from other games in general. Why would they leave a game that they've invested time and money in.. for a game that is exactly that same besides the story? Come on, do you honestly think people will dive in and buy ARR and everything will be rainbows and happiness?
As someone who played WoW since 2005 to 2011, I never want to go back to a game like WoW.
They should have just stuck to their fans. Buuut I guess if you look at the direction they're going with Final Fantasy in general, it's safe to say that the franchise has lost it's touch.

Oh look it's this self-hating thread again.
Oh boy, this thread will never end! X3
But it's hard to look away from a train wreck.
Yeah, I think enough is enough...
