    SE wants everyone's money..but let's be real:

If it wasn't named FF, it would be long forgotten, like Fantasy Earth was.

If we were the target, it wouldn't be remade, especially to this extent.

If it's about flagshipness, they would have revitalized Front Mission Online despite lack of interest (the reason they shut it down after a few years.)

So while they want everyone's money, they're remaking it for the bigger slice of pie in the "standard mmo market", even though the FF base is large, they do have a very clear vision about what they want, which is why he wants it to be competitive in the market of generally same MMOs.

Precisely. To be honest i'm not a big fan of the "standard" MMO. I'm more used to the old school FFXI, Runescape, Everquest grind stuff. I'm used to it and prefer it. I don't like instant gratification and doing hundreds of quests for exp. I hate doing that in single player as well (Xenoblade side quests for xp was awful). It's one of those things where I need to adapt or move on. That'll be one of the things I need to work on come Beta and release.

I am so glad someone posted a topic about how SE needs to go about making the game.
I really think we needed another one..
Drop a couple "Deal with it's" in there and wala.
You have another pointless topic, made by someone who has no idea what SE is really doing.. Bravo..
I see absolutely no point to this topic.
Other than the OP taking his time to try to sound smug.

Funny though because while WoW certainly is easier then say FFXI when it comes to loot and progress - I'd say FFXIV (post-Tanaka) is and will be easier then WoW lol

    Over correction?

Honestly, I'm the same way but I don't really think we can change ourselves to suit a game. If I get something I want very easily, I'm going to get very bored very fast. If I can get everything I want within a very small time frame and then I'd have to find something to do, I'd quit. Standard MMO, ubiquitous as it is, is honestly boring and unfulfilling to me. Seems moot to play an online game to do it completely alone or for instant rewards for the current time investment.

Would the game be playing itself for us then? lol

I havent played since Burning Crusade but I assure you its not hello kitty. Yes you can level yourself - but there are plently of opportunities to die. I suppose in groups the solo quests appear easy, but I leveled all the way to max solo (leveling was slower earlier in the release) and if you go do all the quests at their suggested levels you arent 1 shotting things (though I've been 1 shot by wandering NMs).

Also dungeons will be happy to make you run back to your body.

Though like I said I played a while ago I dont know whats changed. But seriously.. its not hello kitty lol.

I thought Digimon Masters Online was harder then Hello Kitty!?!

*Unsure where to place FFXIV now.. between Hello Kitty and Digimon, or between WoW and Hello Kitty..*

to OP, I see your point. Perhaps that's Yoshida's view too but no one knows.

Either way, he better have enough content for those FFXI-vets or FFXIV old-schoolers because these people are the proven long term subscribers.

Priority in a business should always be higher to keep current/existing customers than to attract new ones.
